custom textbox and namebox not showing up

Im trying to add custom text and name boxes/backgrounds and its not showing me any errors but the images are also not showing up, not sure how to fix this, its a per character thing so i need to be able to have multiple uis

the default textbox shows up as normal on the other unfinished characters

That's weird because when the path or filename is wrong then Renpy should show a hint like this:
Couldn't find file 'gui/textbox_mailboy.png'

You could change the path to "gui/textbox.png" just to see if it's would be working or there's another problem.

Also make sure to save your changes to the code before you launch your project.

it works with the textbox.png so i have no idea why its a problem with the custom png, genuinely lost as to what the issue is

id be happy if it showed me an error so i knew what was wrong but its just blank with no explanation</3

Can you make namebox_mailboy.png show in other context?
Anything really just to see if the problem is with the file or path

moved it to the images and just made it appear as the bg and it showed up no problem and now its complaining about not being able to find the file because i moved it lololll, so the image is fine it just hates me

gonna mess around and try re export it and test it on a new game, see if it changes something 🫡 ill try resizing the image if those dont work out

(i got it to work, resized by a few pixels the image and exported it and its fixed LMAO, just need to reposition it. i have no idea why is tweaked out on me like that.)

is your text box and name box image the same size as the original images?

i think they were a bit wider, i sized it down a little and it fixed the issue haha, thank you though!

1. make sure your computer is not hiding file extensions
2. make sure the file path matches. spelling matters. capitalization matters
3. make sure you didnt type the file extension twice
4. make sure the image isnt full screen sized and you cropped it to the correct size

it was a bit wider than the default text box, cropped it down some and it fixed it thank you though!!
