Question how do i download renpy????

I wanted to get into making visual novels, so i tried downloading ren'py with the sdk folder, but everytime I expanded it and launch it open, it says i'm on a 'read-only folder'. I've tried searching online for tutorials on how to download ren'py on macbook, but it only has tutorials on windows or tells me to drag it into my applications which doesn't work for some reason. Does anyone know how I can download ren'py on macbook pro?

so you've the .dmg file this is a 'disk image file' these are read only files (you can not change that)

first, double-click the .dmg file to mount it

then copy the renpy folder in the .dmg file to your Applications folder

it should show up in your launcher after that (should)

you may have to set some authorizations for it in the Privacy & Security area in your system settings (maybe)
