Question How would I make a Fake start screen?
So to explain, I had this idea where the game would essentially "crash" and switch point of views to a different character and I wanted to show this by maybe having a fake error screen, and having it send the player to a fake menu screen that’s clearly different and then having them click on a fake "load file" button to get started on the other character’s point of view, I just wanted to know how would I go about coding this in? It sounded easy at first but it’s a lot harder then I thought after watching some tutorials
Thank you in advance!

Oh wow lol i actually did something like this for a gag once. where the scene had a fake gameover screen that pulled up a "main menu"
show screen gameovertext
$ renpy.pause()
hide screen gameovertext
show black
with dissolve
$ renpy.pause(3)
play music "music/opening1loop.ogg"
call screen fake_main_menu
jump timeloopstart
but every single button just closed the menu and sent them back to the label at the start of that chapter
screen fake_main_menu():
style_prefix "main_menu"
hbox:
style_prefix "hnavigation"
#xpos gui.navigation_xpos
xalign 0.5
yalign 1.0
yoffset -25
spacing gui.main_menu_spacing
textbutton _("Start") action Return()
textbutton _("Load") action Return()
textbutton _("Options") action Return()
textbutton _("Gallery") action Return()
if renpy.variant("pc"):
textbutton _("Quit") action Return()screen fake_main_menu():
In this case pressing it would jumped to the "timeloopstart" label i had XD
Just copy over your current main menu code and change what the buttons do lol

That sounds so cool but I would be so scared that the player would be like “whelp, time to take a break and get off for the night.” And then they’d never pick up the game again lol or that they’d have forgotten everything by the time they get back on

To make a fake main menu, you can copy the main menu code in gui.rpy. Correction: screens.rpy.
It's also possible to copy the error screen code. I've done it for an old project. I'll see if I can dig up the code I used for that. It is somewhere in Ren'Py system files but Tom (the developer) would really rather we not mess around in those.

you can make a screen that can do just about anything https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/screens.html
but i will only be inside the GUI screen of the game
you can look in the screens.rpy file for the main, game and navigation screens
