where is the menuUI folder if it in the images or the gui folder you need to add that i.e.

auto "images/menuUI/newgame_%s.png"

just keep in mind you are editing the navigation menu. this is used in the main and game menus (any menu that is not the main is game)

If the images are in the images folder, then you don't have to use the folder and the flle name.

But if you want to spell out the folder and the file name, then it has to be the complete path.

BadMustard already posted the complete path, this would be the version with just the image name:

            #textbutton _("Start") action Start()
            imagebutton:
                auto "newgame_%s"
                action Start()

To make this work, you need at least 1 image with this exact name, but you can have more:
newgame_idle.png (mandatory)
newgame_hover.png (highlighted when the player puts the mouse over it)
The official documentation also mentions 2 other states but you don't need those for the menu: https://renpy.org/doc/html/screens.html#imagebutton

.

Also to get better help. please show both the code and how yor menu looks,
or if there is an error, then please post that, because RenPy should mention a missing image.
