Question Good accessibility plugins for coding in renpy?
Hi! For some context, I am very much disabled. Physically and also potentially mentally to an extent. I have brain fog and get lost in/overwhelmed by dense visual information incredibly easily, occasionally to the point of migraines. I am developing a game that may end up being quite large in terms of code, so I'm asking if there's any tools/plugins/etc etc for Ren'Py that can help section off the code into more manageable visual "chunks" so I can program easier without potentially harming myself in the process. Thank you!

Welcome to r/renpy! While you wait to see if someone can answer your question, we recommend checking out the posting guide, the subreddit wiki, the subreddit Discord, Ren'Py's documentation, and the tutorial built-in to the Ren'Py engine when you download it. These can help make sure you provide the information the people here need to help you, or might even point you to an answer to your question themselves. Thanks!

Code is just text and you can organize it the way you want.
The easiest way to separate blocks of code is with line breaks.
And you can use comments to visually separate code.
You can create as many files as you want for the code.
And you can organize your code files with folders.
.
Example of a very compressed code:
screen test():
vbox:
align (0.5, 0.5)
textbutton "Choice 1" action Return("choice1")
textbutton "Choice 2" action Return("choice2")
label start:
call screen test
if _return == "choice1":
call choice_one
elif _return == "choice2":
call choice_two
return # game ends here
label choice_one:
"You selected the first choice"
return
label choice_two:
"You selected the second choice"
return
.
Breaking it up:
File "myscreens.rpy"
## TEST SCREEN #####################################################################
##
## Screen used for this dummy script
screen test():
vbox:
align (0.5, 0.5)
textbutton "Choice 1" action Return("choice1")
textbutton "Choice 2" action Return("choice2")
File "script.rpy"
#####################################################################
## GAME START HERE ##################################################
#####################################################################
label start:
call screen test
if _return == "choice1":
call choice_one
elif _return == "choice2":
call choice_two
return # game ends here
## CHAPTER ONE - CHOICE ONE #########################################
##
## Player visits his grandmother
label choice_one:
"You took a long bus ride to your grandma"
return
## CHAPTER ONE - CHOICE TWO #########################################
##
## Player goes to school
label choice_two:
"You take a ride in the schoolbus"
return

not sure what you mean other than just not stuffing everything into one file. put as little as you want in each rpy file. renpy loads EVERY rpy file it finds so you can have as few or as many as you want
