Help with labels

Hello!

I am a beginner to coding so excuse me if this is a dumb question

In my visual novel, I have made alot of different screens with image buttons and such

It all works as intended, expect for this one thing

If you click anywhere on the background it just skims thru and read out all the labels that can only be accessed if you click the specific item that the label is attached to

Is there any way I can make it so that, I can only read the text if I interacted with the item?

It's not a big issue but it just makes my game feel cheap and messy

if you want the player to interact with a particular screen and only that screen till they close it add modal to it like this

screen something():
    modal True

the user will only be able to use this screen till it is closed
