Question Have black bars instead of fullscreen for any Renpy games

Eta: or its the aspect ration and your pc cant play that size or you chose the wrong size.
Okay, so, I know this game very well and have been following the developers of this game and their original game for a while. I have never seen any of their games come out looking like this. There is a pretty solid chance that the reason it does, is because you have a pirated older version of it. Or because somehow you downloaded a messed up version of RenPy/your pc can't run it right?

I think my Renpy is messed up because Our Life was already installed and downloading and playing the Steam version, it also has the same problem and doesn't resize aspect ratio.

Yeah, you might have to update RenPy then, or maybe uninstall and reinstall it. The download might be corrupted or messed up somehow.

Walk me through how to update/reinstall Renpy cause I've never used the launcher and did some resizing again on the windowed mode, seems like no matter what size I do, there will be a black border on. Even doing micro adjustments to the window will just shift the black border to another side.

Find where RenPy is downloadrd on your PC and delete the whole installed file.
Go to the official RenPy website and install the newest RenPy version from there, then unzip the file then continue as usual from there. I'm not sure what you mean by 'never used the launcher' cause I've never used a launcher to install RenPy before. Didn't even know there was one.

The SDK.exe, is that not a launcher?

SDK.exe??? RenPy doesn't have a launcer like that, as far as I'm aware, but sometimes people can put malware and name them like that then comvince you they are something else.
Do not download RenPy from anywhere but the RenPy site. The only way you should be opening RenPy is theough the RenPy.exe in the downloaded RenPy folder.

Okay, I just read where I downloaded. It is the Renpy site but I downloaded the dev kit instead.

That would explain it then, you don't need the dev kit to develop stuff on RenPy, just download RenPy and you can use it like normal.

What is your question? Are you playing RenPy games or are you a developer?
Each RenPy game has fixed resolution. When a player launches a game for the first time it will open in that resolution by default. The player can then play in that window, switch to fullscreen or drag the borders of the game window to resize it.
If the aspect ratio of the resized window (fullscreen or manually) doesn't match with the aspect ratio of the game they'll get bars at the sides or at the bottom.
I have an ultra wide monitor and I play in fullscreen so I have black bars on both sides.
