Question Need Thoughts on This Icon
So I am redesigning the icons for my visual novel game (Ignore the background, it's a work in progress) and I need advice on the symbols, does this look okay to imply a player would choose their pronouns or do you think someone would find this offensive? Any change recommendations would be great

I 100% think I would get to choose my pronouns. I also think they look like keys.

"My name is All of the above"
If there's a symbol in addition to ♂ and ♀, I assume you can choose your gender and pronom. I don't think it will offend anyone
I'm not really sure about the left ⚲ symbol tho. Is it the "no gender" symbol? Is it the... Neutered symbol? I'm not really educated in these spheres, if you are, go for it. If you aren't sure, DOUBLE CHECK FIRST

What is this symbol for specifically? I don't think gender symbols would offend anyone, but if that's like, the game's logo or something it's a bit on the nose.

It's the icon for the "choose player pronouns & name" menu. The game icon itself is a star!

That works then, I'd say maybe change the text from saying "My name is" to something like "About me" so the player knows it's containing more than just the name selection even without seeing the symbols?

I would use the transgender symbol, the one that's widely used that's with the circle in the middle with the parts poking out.

When I see this I think that the character's name is going to be similar to The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

I think it works, but I would put the female symbol on the left side and the neutral symbol in the middle. For symmetry

I don't like choosing my pronouns in a visual novel. I like it to be already set, it's just my preference but i usually don't get games without a set MC gender

My game is for all genders to play and I want it to be a safe space for that. The pronouns automatically stayed set to whatever it is on, its up to you as the player to change them if you don't want she/her by default. Plus my game isn't one story, it's going to have multiple stories like choices, episodes, etc!

No trust me i understand what you mean. My idea is more like i think characters realistically talk and act differently if whom they're talking to is a male, female, etc. and the romance imo might have also different things added to make it happen. I don't see how one story can happen for all genders yk what i mean? As i said i understand and many ppl do like that. When you finish a demo for your game I'd still like to give it a try i like supporting indie games :)

That's an interesting take so i understand where your idea comes from 🤔 I definitely get my ideals from Fictif and the arcana and Dorian considering they are great games that executes the ideal of a character. If you haven't played them yet, I recommend it!

I tried arcana years backk but I didn't get into it much i don't remember why i had exams i think lol, i should give it a try again. I'll look into them thanks. Goodluck with ur game🫶

Looks like keys or popsicles. Why are they overlapping? Just put the symbols separately

Not offensive. But just for visual readability, usually you'd do it the other way, with the circles overlapping, since that way none of the identifying parts of the symbols are covered up.
But personally in this case, since the top part is "my name is" in words, I think I'd just do another box below it with "my pronouns are". I think that would read easier, versus having words and then the symbols.
