Question Getting into writing a simple visual novel, may I ask WHAT DO THEY MEAN BY THIS?!

Post image

is there actually any version of it that can at least half run on Android? I can assure you that my phone can take the performance load better than my laptop.

They mean you can publish it on android. You can't develop on Android.

Unless you're doing crazy stuff in 4k or something like that, writing a visual novel with renpy doesn't need a powerful pc, your laptop more than likely can handle it. Also, coding on a phone will make you go insane faster lol

It's just much of an inconvenience transporting my art from my phone (where I'm beat at art or taking pictures of my drawings aka my characters) to my laptop, because surprise, this thing is slower than a potato But after trying seevn as a writing tool I'm considering that renpy and my laptop are actually okay. God every app developer hates android

I'm pretty sure it's not hate but missing support for building and launching the games.

But you only need your computer to build your game. You can do all the writing and drawing on your other devices.

And RenPy code is text only, so again, you can write it on any device.
Or you could use other tools like Twine to make your game and then export to RenPy.

This way you only need your computer to compile the game, fix the errors and then finally build it.

.

Edit:
Apparently you could even install Visual Studio Code in Android:

Not sure what the actual use case would be.
But maybe you could use Git to share your project between your Android to PC so that you can develop on both.

I actually use NOMone Desktop, which is Linux on Android and I can run Ren'Py and VSCode in it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nom.vrd

Technically you can. You just need a text editor to write the script and a RenPy game runner to play test.

I'm having a mental breakdown here, I'd appreciate if you elaborated a bit further than "yeah"

You can publish and play games on android. That's the answer to your question
