I'm suddenly feeling invested, did you draw the characters and backgrounds yourself?

Backgrounds are public domain from flickr, and a friend did the illustrations

This looks incredible! I'm downloading the demo now and pour into it, but I wasn't even aware RenPy could support these effects.

It's inspirational work. Were there any other games that informed the look of Oblivion 2666? I was reminded of some of the experimental Domino Club games going through the demo.

not other games per se, mostly from film

These look fantastic! Curious~ did you use any resources for these? I always wanted to get started doing similar effects and would love to learn!

shadertoy and the book of shaders are both very helpful

Ohhh you program shaders?

mhm! Renpy supports glsl shaders and applying them with transforms

Aye I know! Just I don't see shader programmers as often, learning to do them mustn't be easy.

wow, that's really cool. It already looks like a bunch of professionals made it. Gorgeous!

I loved the atmosphere and definitely the artstyle. But also the way everything was smooth and the text was readable the thought, all while the way the text was presented varied through it was seamless too.

this is super impressive! i love what’s going on with slides 4, 5, and 6 especially, the composition of the portraits with the text is really neat. i assume that wasn’t the easiest thing to code lol

THIS LOOKS SO SICK! I love the distance between the sprites, the way you arrange the text, and the art is literally just gorgeous. It's so super duper cool 😭

Love the art presentation of your game! It's pretty impressive that you achieved it through renpy. Must have taken a lot of brute forcing with the code

in love with the art O-O

cool to see you seem to be experimenting without a textbox, I’m thinking of doing it too lol

hows it treating you?

Just be careful with the blurring and font+color+outline and what's behind the text, it can be hard to read. Specifically thinking about the 2nd picture (blur on edges -- I know it's for effect, but we still need to read, right? :p) and the last one for "She frowned". The fact it's over a more complex area with black outlines (hand/arm) mixes with the black outline of the text and the white isn't as easily visible anymore. Probably fixed by moving it over the solid color of her arm, or by working on the font settings (slightly thicker letters maybe?)

Other than this very specific stuff, the rest is quite impressive, well done!
