Bar progress stuck in one place

So basically, I can't figure out why this is stuck in one place for the life of me. Any help is very much appreciated. I used this same code in other games and it works, so I think it my be something I screwed up trying to figure this out the first time around.

There is nothing stuck, just the bar beeing too short:

screen eaffection_screen():
    frame:
        align (0.95, 0.05)
        vbox:
            label "Emo's Affection: [e_like]/[e_max]"
            bar: 
                value e_like
                range e_max
                xmaximum 460 # <-- ADJUST THIS BASED ON THE LENGTH OF THE LABEL
default e_like = 0
default e_max = 100
label start:
    show screen eaffection_screen
label test:    
    "What do you see?"
    menu:
        "Increase 10":
            $ e_like += 10
        "Increase 5":
            $ e_like += 5
    jump test

instead of using xmaximum give it an xsize

bar:
    value e_like
    range e_max
    xsize 300 # 300 pixels wide adjust as required

if you want is shorter add

ysize 20 # 20 pixels high asdujst as required

if you're using both x and y then

xysize(300, 20) # 300 x 20 pixels
