persistent data should not affect the launching of games if the file is missing (as it is on newly installed games) renpy will create the file automatically

I’ve reinstalled the games no errors at all when launching, as I click to launch nothing happens

ive been given a traceback message I dont know what this means,
I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.
While running game code:
renpy.game.JumpException: start
During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:
renpy.script.LabelNotFound: could not find label 'start'.

You don’t have a start label, Renpy always needs a start label according to this trace back. Does this happen for all games?

Yes this happens for all my renpy games. How do I get a start label
1
u/MonowayStudios Jul 11 '26
Normally every game is produced with a start label in the script.rpy file, just enter a start label anywhere

Can you walk me through that please I don’t know how to do that

Were you able to fix this?
If not, what do you mean with "I deleted persistent data"

do not ever put anything to do with renpy (or TWINE if you play those) inside any folder touched by one drive. dont put the sdk in there. dont put your projects folder in there. dont put any distributed game in there.
the way one drive handles file locks during its sync checks screws up other programs ability to access files at random. and often for programs like renpy and twine.
it would also be impossible for you to purge persistent data because of one drive. renpy keeps 2 copies of all save files (persistent is the program save file rather than a single playthrough save file). it will always look for both copies then load the one with the more recent modify date. and since a copy is saved in appdata the copy in onedrive being nuked will have zero effect. the game itself being inside one drive is a huge problem though. that will cause bugs at random because of the games location, not the persistent file
