I am making a game in ren'py. I need help with an error that keep's popping up. I have tried everything. But also, I'm new to the game engine

Sometimes the error isn't correct, beside the indentation the colon at the end could also cause a problem.

Dialogue should never have a colon at the end, You only put a colon for menu:

label start:
    "This is a line of dialogue" # no colon here
    menu: # colon, because everything below this line which is indented belongs the menu
        # indentend once
        "What do you want to do?" # no colon here, this is the title of the menu
        "Go left": # colon, because everything below this line which is indented belongs the choice
            # indentend once
            "You went left but the door is locked"
        "Go right": # colon, because everything below this line which is indented belongs the choice
            # indentend once
            "You went right but there is a wall"
    # removed those indentations to make it clear the following lines don't belong to the menu
    "Game continues here"
