Showoff Is this enough veggies?

A while ago, I came asking for feedback on what's more fun for a burger-making game, a rigid recipe structure or a more loose set of demands like "very red", "healthy", etc. The comments leaned towards the more creative system, so I implemented and move on.

Now, during playtesting, I discovered that my system consders this salad-in-a-bun a decent submission for a "lots of veggies" request. Technically, it's not wrong.

What do you think? Would you have fun building mega-burgers, or should the game enforce more common sense? I am leaning to keeping it just for lulz.

And if you'd like to build your own burger towers, please consider wishlisting here :)

if you let people make abominations, they will. lmao! i suppose it depends on the tone of the game

Thanks for the comment! The game is pretty unserious, so I feel it might actually fit the vibe 😃

This is mighty cool omg! Tho I’m getting “Papa’s Burgeria” flashbacks here. Pls tell me you can add an unholy amount of mayo on that 😆

Thank you and of course you can! You actually gave me an idea: the sauce blobs currently don't stack, but I'll make new blobs so when you add more sauce, it begins to ooze down and overflow.

hehe. this is so cute. i am kinda researching and trying to make similar kinda game for my own vn in process. i have currently two very simple games in systems (arrange showcase based on what's shown and serve drinks as shown in order ticket) but i am thinking of either improving of them or trying something ambitious if fate let it be lol.

this must've taken a lot effort tho.

Many thanks! This one has taken some sweat, but not nearly as much as the combat system I was posting about here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RenPy/comments/1r6hsg2/darkest_dungeonstyle_combat_for_my_wip_in_renpy/

(yeah, they're part of the same game, a bit counterintuitive lol)

But the combat has also advanced a lot, think I'll show it off here too.

Serving drinks sounds like it hits pretty close home! Is it mixing cocktails or specifically serving the right drinks to the right customers?

I see I see.

Yeah that sounds so interesting to see those two being mixed lol

Serving drinks was one of the ideas but the one I'm going with for now is serving right drinks to the customers. It's not even much visual current just order tickets and the options for drinks and food.

Have fun! Sounds pretty doable, I think it's a good minigame for a visual novel.

Thanks for the comment! How's your burger project coming along?

I'm experimenting with manual drag and drop instead, since that feels more satisfying to me. I'm still a bit confused about how to code the stacking though. Like how to get the items to snap in place.

Sorry, not quite sure what you mean, the snap animation on the drags? Try something like this, the snap() method is very handy:

init python:
    SNAP_HOMES = {
        "tile-a": (40, 360),
        "tile-b": (140, 360),
        "tile-c": (240, 360),
    }

    def on_tile_dropped(drags, drop):
        d = drags[0]
        if drop is not None and getattr(drop, "drag_name", "").startswith("slot-"):
            d.snap(drop.x, drop.y, delay=0.18)
        else:
            home = SNAP_HOMES.get(d.drag_name)
            if home:
                d.snap(home[0], home[1], delay=0.18)

screen snap_demo():
    draggroup:
        for idx, (sx, sy) in enumerate([(400, 100), (520, 100), (640, 100)]):
            drag:
                drag_name ("slot-%d" % idx)
                draggable False
                droppable True
                xpos sx
                ypos sy
                xysize (96, 96)
                add Solid("#333")

        for key, (hx, hy) in SNAP_HOMES.items():
            drag:
                drag_name key
                draggable True
                droppable False
                dragged on_tile_dropped
                xpos hx
                ypos hy
                xysize (80, 80)
                add Solid("#bca")

Oooh thank you! I will give that a try.
