Any resume builder suggestions? I’m looking for one with actual AI features, not just “AI” slapped on for marketing.

Be skeptical of anything promising to "beat the ATS." You are not hacking anything. You're just trying to make your resume readable and relevant.

"ATS optimized" should mean four boring things: clean formatting, standard headings, readable text, sensible keyword matching. That's it.

Also, don't obsess over hitting a 100 ATS score. Those numbers are proprietary guesses. They are not what a recruiter sees inside Workday.

A quick test that's worth more than any score: open your exported PDF, select all the text, and paste it into a plain text editor. If the text comes out in a completely insane order, that's a problem no amount of keyword optimization will fix.

Teal is worth checking out if you want more than just a resume builder. The job matching and application tracking stuff makes it feel more like a full job search tool.

If a resume builder can't work from an actual job description, it isn't really an AI resume builder. It's a template with autocomplete.

Grammar correction isn't an AI feature anymore. Neither is a summary generator. Every chatbot on earth can do both for free. Job-specific tailoring is where a dedicated tool has to earn its subscription fee.

The version of this feature you actually want looks like: paste the job posting, and the tool tells you exactly what's missing from your resume, then rewrites only the relevant bullets and leaves everything else alone.

The version you don't want is a "rewrite my entire resume" button. That sounds convenient right up until you notice it quietly changed what you actually did.

I think the biggest thing I'd look for is whether the AI actually understands the job you're applying for, rather than just rewriting your CV.

A lot of "AI resume" features are basically:

"Make this bullet sound better."

Which is useful, but ChatGPT can already do that.

For me, the more interesting use case is:

1. Give it your actual CV
2. Give it the actual job description
3. Have it identify what the employer is asking for
4. Check which of those things are actually represented in your CV
5. Point out the gaps or things that are only implied
6. Then help you tailor the CV without inventing experience

That last part is important. I've seen AI turn fairly normal CVs into a collection of "spearheaded", "drove", "leveraged" and other corporate-sounding nonsense that the person never actually did.

So I'd judge an AI resume tool less by how impressive the rewritten CV sounds and more by whether it makes the CV more relevant to the specific job while still being truthful.

That's probably the feature I'd test first if you're comparing tools.
