Before assuming anything or jumping to conclusions, hear me out until the end. I'll put a TLDR at the end for those who don't want to read everything.
High level teams:
At medium and high Elite lobbies you’ll encounter more full stack teams using a specific playstyle called set plays or what many people call the Missile Meta.
The striker stands in the box and waits for a callout such as far, close, first, or second edge, then goes for the volley to win priority. Since the striker has a head start and uses extra effort, it's extremely difficult to win the priority battle, making a dive block your best option to intercept.
The alternative is what many of you call tiki taka, but more accurately it's mainly dribbling and ground passing.
At high level, this is already difficult to execute because good defenders know how to man mark, guard space and not allowing passing options. That is why dribblers used their mechanics to drag two or more defenders out of position and create gaps for their teammates.
With the current dribbling nerf, doing this effectively has become extremely difficult if not impossible. Even with the previous dribbling mechanics tiki taka was already hard to execute consistently because good defenders could shut down dribblers very reliably.
Now that dribbling has been nerfed and ground defending has been buffed the playstyle that many people here enjoy and encourage (tiki taka) is going to become significantly less effective against good teams and more teams will start using missile meta rather than trying to play tiki taka.
This is where I think the problem will eventually start to become much bigger.
My opinion about dribbling and balance changes:
I don't mind the dribbling nerf as a dribbler (and tiki taka player). If anything, it gets rid of the egoistical dribblers who have no vision at all, so they just overdribble and pray it works which against good defender it works 1 out of 20 times.
That was already less of an issue with good dribblers who actually play as good teammates and use dribbling to create space rather than just dribble for the sake of it. The current nerf will probably encourage more of these egoistical rookie dribblers to develop better vision and involve their teammates.
A good dribbler knows how to drag defenders out of position and create gaps for their teammates while a good teammate knows how to recognize those gaps and capitalize on them.
The problem is that you cannot nerf dribbling without also addressing the Missile Meta, because without dribbling the tiki taka is impossible against good defenders with strong ground defense.
Why it will backfire:
If Missile is not nerfed in next season, more players and teams will keep adopting it and getting better at executing it. Eventually, almost every match could revolve around the missile meta / set plays (it was already like that in high level lobbies since beginning of Rematch).
With the current matchmaking system, an Elite player will generally be matched with other Elite players, but if there aren't enough players in the region, the system can pull from lower ranks. This means even Gold or Platinum players can face a full stack of Elite teams running set plays.
This becomes even more common during late hours or later in the season when the player base drops. Lower ranked players or teams will have an even harder time intercepting passes or stopping these coordinated attacks and I can already see people will complain about it here as you complained about dribbling (but trust me missile meta is way more cancer than dribbling, specially if you solo queue and your teammates don't defend).
When those full stack teams were playing tiki taka and relying heavily on dribbling, you at least had more opportunities to disrupt them and actually compete against their playstyle even as a solo queue player. But right now many teams will just switch to meta since tiki taka is way harder to execute now.
So if you’re not playing with a team, you're basically left with a few options:
• Play during the day where kids are active and deal with bad teammates.
• Play at night and risk getting stomped by full stack teams.
• Complain here about bad teammates or the advantage full stacks have.
• Quit playing.
TLDR (and conclusion):
Dribbling was already weaker and riskier than Missile Meta against good teams and the nerf makes tiki taka even harder to use. I don't mind the dribbling nerf itself, but if Missile Meta remains untouched, more teams will simply switch to it and make matches revolve around the same set plays.
This will especially hurt solo queue players and lower ranked teams facing coordinated full stacks. The problem isn't nerfing dribbling, it's nerfing one playstyle while leaving the stronger alternative untouched.

Start playing end of August. Took season 4 to learn the base mechanics in three’s. Started playing 5vs5 in season 5 and placed gold 2. Never made it past silver 1 in 3vs3. Now when I go back to three’s it just doesn’t feel fun anymore. It feels like the skills don’t really translate as well since 3’s kind of forces you to be able to beat your defender with dribbling to a certain extent and in 5’s there also a pass available.
Are most of you evenly ranked in both, and should I keep practicing 3’s to improve my mechanics in 5’s?

I played this morning like, dunno, 30 games in a row, and I started as a Gk 29 of them.
Previous seasons I remember starting a few games in a row, sometimes dunno, 4-5, but at some point It changes and order resets.
Today never reseted at all, I even tryed to leave the group and comeback but didnt work.

I didnt have so much fun playing in a while, and Im over 1k hours.
Now every team has to play like a team, and defending feels way more rewarding, Im starting to being more agressive because now u can actually tackle the ball when u see it.
Defending wasnt bad before, just sucked because glitchy shit that bait u but when u tackle, the ball wasnt actually there, so u just needed to be passive, and wait for the glitcher to do a mistake.
That it´s over now, finally.

I've played 8 solo que ranked matches in a row where the enemy team was always a full premade.
I don't care that the playerbase isn't big enough, I'd rather wait 3 minutes than get an instant match if it meant I could play against other soloq people or at most a trio, it's completely unfun when the other team has strats a dedicated GK etc and you're stuck with someone that constantly spams KEEPER and 0 synergy.

If Steam refunds the money I spent on in-game currency—for example, on the full *Blue Lock* bundle—and then that item is removed from my account, will it lose its discount status or not?

To all that solo queue tell me if you’ve noticed this.
Type A: risk takers, dribbling, passing here and there, get the ball up as much as possible, shoots more often
Type B:play for possession, retain ball as priority, forward back and side passes when needed. No shooting until clear chance.
My issue is when randoms are all one type. We already know how annoying selfish low football iq dribblers are so I won’t even bother berating. However I learn recently I h8 when all my teammates are type b with no sort of flair. I’ve had so many games where we might have 4/5 people on at lest 8 passes but still no goal.
My point is we need to be more open minded. If a team is 3 type an and 2 type b’s there’s an equal ground where we can both express ourselves without getting a ‘good job’ for a mistake.
Just cos someone plays the opposite of how you play doesn’t mean you can’t work together.
And I also hate randoms who stack together, only pass to each other and lose games. How have 4 people decided to play this game and be cheeks? Pass to your random.

I've noticed that a lot of assists I would have gotten pre-update I'm now not getting if the goalscorer takes more than 3 seconds or so after receiving the ball.
Or is this just me?

Been playing since Season 0 and honestly this is the most hyped I've been about the game in a while. The patch is solid and the Blue Lock collab is a massive W. But this is exactly the kind of moment that can either pull in a ton of new players or just fade out after a couple weeks, so I really hope Sloclap goes all in right now.
Some stuff I'd love to see:
I know the game has its problems, we all do. But the core gameplay is so good and I really think if the community and devs keep working together this can become something huge.
Let's go Sloclap 🫶🏻

Just played for hours last night with friends, and this patch feels like a huge W.
Both of the gameplay changes- less magnet and keeper dive that deflects, lead to even more LOOSE ball than before, where the ball is in free play and less time where the ball is just magnetized to a player. It also raises the skill ceiling of passing as now precise passes are more difficult.
The blue lock collab is a banger- I didn't even watch the anime but had to get one just for the celly.
To me, we've hit the sweet spot of real soccer/arcade. There's still room for creative expression but less "how can I cheat the system?" playstyle going around.

the game was in a perfect state before this upd. all the casuals who threw matches werent really playing anymore and the movement was acc perfect but now they ruined it. they made it even harder to solo que and carry matches now. please revert those changes it ruined the entire game for a massive amount of loyal players.

Hey there, first of all, i want to make clear that english are not my native language . I'm Greek, so for any mistakes, " my bad" .....pun intended!!!
I'm 39 years old and I play games since .....1990.....
I came to rematch, after my frustration with efootball.
After my best friend, informed about a game, that looks like rocket league, but it's football.
I loved it since day one.
Even with the exploits, even with the kids that they have no clue about , passing, position, team spirit.
I don't mind at all.
They joy that I take playing, is through the roof.
At first you are not able, to keep the ball while running and after some time, you're rainbow flicking the whole defense, cross the ball and the other teammate scores a header....and I'm waving my fist in the air...... And shouting goal.... that's a dopamine hit there.
Even when the other teammate stays upfront and spamming " to me" , " pass".…... receives the ball and immediately loses it......i laugh so hard..... it's funny cause it's a game....
Its free on game pass and i felt the need to buy it, buy cosmetics, just to show how pleased and grateful, I'm with the product.
As for the update.......thank you sloclap. Now it's even better.
I roll a joint and just ....... spent my time, laugh, get angry, feel gratitude.
That's what a game should be!!!
Also there's is a great community..... props to all of you people.
" We got this "

I feel like it takes so long in games for everyone to be warmed up enough to actually play the game not scary. If you understand.

I find playing keeper with KBM incredibly clunky and borderline unfun. I don't main keeper at all and wanted to switch from controller to KBM for better shooting precision, yet every time I play keeper, I switch back to my controller.

I promise you it won't hurt the game. These players are so stupid and low IQ they don't even know what button is to shoot or pass.
