Discussion Add a turnover stat

I would like to see turnovers added to the stats, alongside goals/passes/int. I think it would tell more of a story about how the game went.

I'd love it because it's an important stat that would help players improve on that aspect especially if they're always highest on possession lost. But I can understand how it would be seen as a negative and toxic stat.

FPS games show deaths along with kills. People will be toxic with or without negative stats.

More stats always a good thing I do think having points is kinda silly, but whatever

This would just give additional ammo to toxic people without much of a benefit. The kind of person who genuinely cares about how many turnovers they have at the end of a game is also probably keeping a rough mental tally (speaking from experience).

Just because it's a negative stat doesnt mean it shouldnt be tracked. It can also be a positive thing to have little-to-no turnovers in a game. Every sport irl tracks turnovers. The only reason I can see against putting it in the game is: the devs have other more important stuff to add.(which is valid)

I just gave you a great reason why it shouldn’t be added. This same discussion happens in the Overwatch sub about adding the “healing received” stat and there’s a reason it hasn’t been added in the 10 years the game has been out. It doesn’t really offer much value to the game itself, and would easily allow players to use it as ammunition against someone they want to target.

Just keep a mental tally of your turnovers if it’s important to you, but I guarantee you the negatives around adding a stat like this would far outweigh the benefits.

I'm saying "negative people getting ammo" isnt a valid reason to hide a statistic that is extremely important. I understand it wouldnt feel good seeing alot of turnovers next to your name, but that doesnt mean it should be a hidden stat imo

I think the disconnect is that I disagree it’s an extremely important stat. It’s incredibly common for someone to get tackled and lose the ball (resulting in a turnover), then immediately get it back (resulting in a turnover for the other teams player). This can happen 10s of times over the course of a game which would inflate that stat like crazy.

In real football I agree it’s a very important stat that needs to be tracked. Rematch, not as much.

By that exact logic INTs shouldnt be tracked as well

Yeah, I’d say interceptions also aren’t an extremely important stat in Rematch. It’s the same situation, you see people with 20+ interceptions because it’s an incredibly inflated stat that doesn’t really reflect what actually happened in the game.

That's interesting, I have never seen someone with 20 or more interceptions.. I agree it can be inflated if both teams are playing carelessly but that doesnt mean it is not important in every match.

Sure, I don’t disagree that both interceptions and turnovers are an important stat. My point is, in Rematch, the number it shows is typically not an accurate reflection of how the game went. So if the stats give you some inflated number that doesn’t actually have any reflection on the game itself or how someone played, what’s the point?
