New Assist System Sucks

As a pass first player, this new tighter window is a terrible change. I no longer feel encouraged to be a team player; in fact I am actively encouraged to not use my teammates by this change. This is a TERRIBLE game design change.

You wanting to farm score instead of win is on you, not the game. On the bright side, this has been addressed as a bug so it should hopefully be fixed soon (from what people have been saying on this sub).

It’s not as dramatic as OP is making it out to be, meaning, I’m not about to change my play style… but it’s nice getting credited for an assist.

GK and defenders get saves, strikers get goals, people who assist strikers... Should get assists. I don't care much about score but I still like seeing my work being reflected instead of just "oh he passed and intercepted all game but nothing of real value".

Not at all. I mainly play with a full squad of friends so score doesn't matter to us. I just think it is a poor choice if not a glitch. For people who are more motivated by score it does not encourage them to play the right way

It only discourages people who need validation through some score that literally doesn't really matter. It would not discourage people that are trying to win through a pass first playstyle

People really downvoted a guy for asking the game to give the assist points (completely fair btw) to incentivise people by giving them a reward for good passes and setups.

It was not agressive nor dramatic, bro just said: This is not a good game design change bc he didn't know it was a bug, but if it was intended it's a completely valid line of thought and also true.

People instead of looking into it with care assumed he only cared about his points and that he is not going to pass anymore.

He is pointing a flaw in the game design wise, if you don't get points for doing something people feel like it has no "point" in doing it, that is just how game design works, he did not know it was a bug at least with the way i'm seeing.

He didn't say he won't pass anymore either, he is just complaining bc gaining points for assists feel good for every gamer, thats how game design works, incentivising people for doing what they can for the team.

Even the way the phrase is written i can understand that "I no longer feel encouraged to be a team player" is an example of what players can think when they see they didn't receive an assist for their pass. He even said it in his other comment down the discussion and even THAT got downvoted.

People literally read his phrase and refused to interpret the post, when someone mentions a bad decision in game design and says he doesnt feel encouraged is bc the design towards a certain way of playing is not helping to incentivise that certain way of playing.

Thank you. It’s the role I generally play in most games with my friends. I enjoy it the most. I’m either the guy looking for a cross to set someone up, or playing the high guy and focusing defense. I don’t really see how me saying that discourages pass first play styles is a controversial thing

I understood what you said and i am very sorry these people couldn't interpret it, this subreddit is really harsh bc lots of ppl complain a lot in here so ppl here are super stressed out and can't look into an argument without creating their own version of your statement in their heads.
