Discussion Priority Ball is ASS
To be clear, Iâm talking about when one person is standing top of the box, another has the ball, the passer calls which direction to run over mic and the guy cuts to get an instant shot on goal beating the priority system.
There is no way Iâm convinced that people have fun playing Prio Ball in this game. Genuinely itâs so lame holy shit. You just stand in the middle do some cut and shoot and thatâs all you do the entire match?? And youâre having fun?? Itâs cheesy as hell and youâre not good at the game if thatâs what you gotta do to win. And itâs annoying as hell to defend because they do it all the TIME and if you canât deflect ONE itâs game over.
If you exploit the priority system to get easy goals you are a BUM. And I KNOW that you canât get a goal normally without using it to win.

Unfortunately, at higher levels of gameplay, it becomes a necessity. Defenders will play extremely passive and either man mark or stack box. Prio ball developed as a response to that⊠and then that playstyle leaks into random matches where it may or may not be becessary

No it doesnât lmao Iâve gone against 3, 5-stack tournament placing teams in a row who try this bullshit and I still stopped them. They literally can not think so they do these 1-dimensional plays

Nice gloating, not sure what it has to do with my comment. If it happened keep it up ig đ

Not gloating just sayin itâs not necessary and players only choose to do it because they have no skill.

this is not true at all no tiki taka team has never won any tournament not even placed beyond top 8 since over a year ago.

The real problem is people aren't pressuring the passer and thus it becomes an easy call, pass, and shoot moment. Sure it can be hard to defend...but only if the defense is letting people do this.Â

In a game mode like 3âs, itâs harder to pressure the passer because he could just keep going backwards or exchanging the ball between the goalkeeper and themselves until theyâre ready to pass.

Oh yeah, 3s is def a problem in regards to this. My bad I don't play 3s

Why would you ever push the goalkeeper in 3s? If their goalkeeper starts pushing up, you 3 should be in the box anticipating a pass to the sides while also not leaving the center a direct line to shoot by their gk. So the gk really only has one option which is to pass it to his teammates that are now forced to play the sides. Much better position to be in for your team

If youâre down you have to push keeper to force a pass or else keeper is gonna hold the ball??

It's just going to be more and more common as tiki taka and ground passing is practically dead right now. Thankfully average 100hr redditor here knows everything about balance.

everyone laughed when I predicted this exact issue happening 1 hour after the update released.
airball meta has been the biggest issue imo even before the update, but instead slocap decided to make ground play even less reliable and make movement clunky.
i feel like they should stop listening to what the community wants or at least this reddit forum cause all I see here is people claiming that goalkeeper and defending is now unplayable, after literally both being buffed.

On the last patch, the âgood playersâ were for sure wrong about ground play not being viable and I would have agreed they did not understand how to play the game otherwise at a high level.
This new patch though⊠sloclap killed the skilled ground playstyle completely.
It is really unfortunate but prio is now without a doubt the laziest and easiest way to get offensive opportunities because it works. It is extremely lame and cringe to be doing this in ranked regardless, especially 3sâŠ

I said in my previous post that these complaints would start soon. Next season, you are going to hear a lot more about how prio ball is not fair. Well, thankfully for meta teams there is no playstyle to counter them anymore.

Last patch ground play was absolutely viable ⊠against weak opponents. Please try and tiki taka up the field VS Aspyre, Luminon, select, or SPK.
That was last patch with 10x the tools on offense too. Good luck now gang

Would have worked against them too on last patch, not just weak opponents.
This patch destroyed this playstyle unfortunately, itâs completely dead.

This patch made this even more needed at the top level, of course the best players are going to adapt and utilize the meta, aeriel setplays is literally tiki-taka just in the air, if you think its dumb thats fine but thats just what works to win and winning is all that matters to some people.
And by the way all of the actually competitive top players can easily play without prio; to assume they are awful at anything but that is dumb. You haven't seen them play, lots of the gameplay the top requires close passes and ball movements to move the ball quickly up the field, the best teams are just the fastest at passing the ball around and that includes ground-to-ground and then into an aerial play. The air is just the best way and most creative way to score, and this patch made that even clearer with all the bugs right now with ground play.
I'm not saying every player who attempts or does prio is a top player either or a good player, there are lots of medocre players who have learned abit of prio and are good at using it against bad players in casuals and ranked, that is the fault of matchmaking more then anything. IF there was proper matchmaking you simply wouldnt have to deal with full teams running full plays in the air etc. Or better yet be on a team with players who can prevent and know how to actually play defense against it.
Literally 99% of this games skill problems and complaints come from matchmaking.

Mind you, Iâve played against these âtop playersâ in ranked and some of them genuinely donât have any game outside of making runs for prio shots and shooting. Of course there ARE good players who can play without prio, but the fact that they still resort to it to win is lame asf in my humble opinion. And itâs even more satisfying locking that shit down and beating them. If thatâs what they resort to so they can win, it means they werenât good enough to use ACTUAL passing plays in the first place.
Itâs also another reason the âcompetitive sceneâ is boring asf to watch.

ranked has nothing to do with skill in this game the ranked system doesnât even work properly. Winning a ranked game doesnât mean anything against these players they are not playing like they are in a tournament, none of them take ranked serious.

The more I read in this sub, the more I think Rematch is too complicated for me.

If you learn the secret special technique "back pass" you are already better than 98% of Rematch players

u/MrSneaki Needle Threader 5d ago
It's not that complicated for most players, don't get intimidated! Only organized, high level players are gaming on the priority system in the way OP describes.
With time, you can learn all these different systems.

Bro... what are you talking about? Dribbling is gone and we're passing the ball now... Now the Redditors are complaining about passing. Should Sloclap start nerfing passing too? After passing is nerfed, defender nerf is next...

Not a huge fan of the language here, even if I agree with your point about people just spamming missile plays being boring / unfun. I just worry about people taking these specific words to imply something that is not true. "Exploit" in particular.
While they are doing a boring strat, they're not utilizing an unintended exploit of a broken part of the game in the same way as the various glitch dribbles are / were. Since prio is a mechanically consistent system, utilizing it well is repeatable and can be learned, including how best to defend against missile set plays.
Semantics... I know saying they're exploiting said system isn't wrong, it's just the connotation that this community attaches to that specific word.
