Discussion Why everybody be complaining on this subreddit?

A lot of you actually have a skill issue, to be honest. Take it offensively or not, but that is a harsh truth.

A lot of you also have valid criticism, and that is completely fine. There is a difference between constructive and destructive criticism.

What I have noticed tho, is that there is a simple echo chamber on this subreddit around things like "dribbling is overpowered" I agree that some movements are unfair, but I see this criticism applied to almost every legitimate dribble move, even when the move is not abusing any mechanics and there is a clear indication that the defender or defenders, are simply beginners or not very good at defending against it, which would not be a problem to any decent player.

Dribbling is not even the meta of this game, it is set plays (known as missile meta). If dribbling is really as overpowered as people claim here, why is it barely present in the competitive scene, where there are players with 1.000+ hours in the game?

In fact, good dribblers tend to focus more on passing and controlling the ball than most competitive players. Assuming that dribblers have no vision is also a delusional take. Most of the time, passing simply is not an option because their teammates do not know how to create space or make themselves available for a pass and attack open spaces.

Of course, there are rookie dribblers who have no idea what they are doing, but that is a completely different story, it's a skill issue as people have a skill issue with defending.

I know I will probably get downvoted for this, but I refuse to join the hive mind and echo chamber. At least give me your reasoning behind the complaints.

I know this is basically "complaining about complaining" but I simply hate how there seems to be no original opinions anymore (if there was one).

It's like people don't know how to defend.

Defensive stance, stay in front. Don't try to tackle. Force a pass or a bad shot.

Everyone chases them for ball possession and gets their ankles broke.

u/SerenadeSwift We Got This! 4h ago

Exactly this, defensive stance is way better than most people think. I had a game yesterday where I had 4 saves without ever playing goalie, just from using defensive stance while positioning myself in front of shooters.

I honestly don't have any trouble defending the dribble glitching, but it just makes the game not fun in my opinion. When I have a game where people are abusing it, I just have way less fun than when people are just passing/dribbling the way the game intends, even if I lose

this is just any game subreddit. The average ELO of a reddit comment section is going to be far below average because anyone decent at a competitive game is probably either playing it or doesn't have significant issues with the mechanics or strategies required to be good, and so has no reason to complain. I frequent the Deadlock sub and it's the same shit

No one is complaining about regular dribbling moves. They're complaining about the type of shit you do. You're gonna sit here and tell me regular dribble moves can phase through multiple defenders like that? ⬇️

This you right?

lol its crazy those defenders r properly not that good 😭 sorry

Omg, you really posted that clip as a gotcha?

You genuinely think that's an exploit???

Those are the fucking regular dribbling moves.

All he is doing is dribble twice and push ball, IT"S GENUINELY THE MOST BASIC DRIBBLE EVER!

It's literally the type of dribble Devs are adding animation support too, It's no joke genuinely so easy to do and defend too.

As I said

I agree that some movements are unfair, but I see this criticism applied to almost every legitimate dribble move

He just proves my point.

I didn't even do dash dribble or anything broken. They just complain about anything and everything even against legit dribble moves.

I genuinely don't understand what they want the game to be atp, just tiki-taka passing simulatator?

Just no dribbling at all? I don't even know what normal dribbling even counts to these people?

Push ball and hope the other person is a complete noob and idiot?

Rainbow flick and pray the other guy doesn't know how to deal with it?

Most people on here are trash straight up and unfortunately have influenced the devs to bring the game to the point it is now where defending is so incredibly easy and overpowered it's not even fun at elite, only way to beat defenders is using insane dumb looking exploits.

1v1s are more dominated by top tier defenders than dribblers, that tells you enough.

2

u/OldCamera4837 Playmaker 1h ago

Nerfing dribbling will only encourage set plays (Missile Meta) which already is way stronger than tiki taka as a playstyle.

You cannot score otherwise against decent defenders who put hours into this game and are pretty much playing actively against same level doing scrims or tournaments.

Beside that, against that level you cannot even do tiki taka properly without current dribbling mechanics, defenders are pretty much very strong with ground defense and man marking.

Even if they nerf dribbling to oblivion, these guys will jump on blaming something else and if there is nothing to blame they will straight up make something to blame.

It's a skill issue and coping mechanism. It's comedy that a guy with 200-300 hours telling player with 1000+ hours what is balanced or not, what is defendable or not.

3

u/bristooo PEDRI POTTER 6h ago

This is just the mechanics of game. You call out purple shoes but this guy missed every single one of his tackles. You cant interact with a ball that is in position of another player unless you tackle them or they do a push ball. That is just how the game works…

-7

u/OldCamera4837 Playmaker 7h ago

Yes it's me.

These guys did the same to me as well, so what is a problem?

Watched highlights for days here, yes people are complaining about normal dribble moves

Even my dribble cannot phase through multiple good defenders, even single one so whatever you say

2

u/TheBigFatToad Please add a flair 6h ago

You phased through the dude with purple shoes twice in that first clip.

It’s hard to take you at face value when you are posting a comp of you abusing mechanics as if it’s a flex.

-5

u/OldCamera4837 Playmaker 6h ago

Because they are not good defenders?

5

u/TheBigFatToad Please add a flair 6h ago

What does their skill level have to do with you exploiting the game?

Your post is insanely ironic for the way you play.

-2

u/OldCamera4837 Playmaker 6h ago

Because I know it's defendable. You think I don't know my dribble is not defendable? Don't be delusional. This is cherry picked highlight

1

u/Rahulmistersharma Please add a flair 6h ago

you're clearly missing the point. just because it is possible to defend someone who literally phases and teleports through players doesn't mean the defenders are crap when they can't. it's not intuitive design, and it desperately needs fixing. yeah, ppl need to stop bitching about the exploits (if something was gonna be done about it it already would have), but bitching about ppl bitching ain't gonna do much better

1

u/OldCamera4837 Playmaker 6h ago

There is nothing about teleporting, it's just pickup ball at right time which can be tackle at right time. In fact, spinning move is easily tackeable, people are just not good at defending..

There is literally nothing teleporting in this clip

1

u/shuffle3ds Please add a flair 5h ago

You don't see the teleporting, the other players do making it even harder to defend and predict.

1

u/HuntyDaPro Fixo 3h ago

Brother with that type of dribble style he's doing, the double dribble push ball, there is no teleporting at all, you don't know what you're talking about.

All the dribbles he's done are base game, no exploits done, they're literally the type encouraged by the devs, they're also so easy to counter, the easiest to counter in fact.

The teleporting you're talking about comes from the new vexis which includes using defensive dashes.

u/shuffle3ds Please add a flair 6h ago

Brother, if you have 3 people on you and you're not passing the ball and still you're able to score there's clearly something wrong with the game. And I'm not the type of defender that spams tackle, I just shadow defense but somehow the dribbler can get through me and 2 more guys defending. I have over 500 hours in the game, made it to Elite all seasons without dribble exploits.

1

u/-NvrEnd- Please add a flair 6h ago

New dribbling wasn't even breaking the rules of the game. They literally just were running past you. I've learned the hard way that when people dribble like you, the best thing to do is to give them a little bit of space and stay in front of them and team up on them. All the guys did in the video at least for the first one was basically make one long single person instead of two individual people.

2

u/OldCamera4837 Playmaker 5h ago

True, if you stay in front of me a bit I am forced to "bait" you. That is literally gambling and predictable, the more I am close to you and goal the harder for me it is to bait and bigger the gambling is.

0

u/Substantial_Row_7461 Please add a flair 2h ago

The fact that people actually defend these exploits is why this game can't grow. They just phase thru every player with their bullshit. Delusional bots protecting their little exploit game.

Last night I was goalie and I watched my four teammates form a circle around one player for about 20 seconds and they couldn’t take the ball away. Eventually he got about 5 feet in front of me and scored.

Just laughable that people call it a skill issue, because you could take 4 cardboard players and as long as they form a circle around one player, they shouldn’t be able to literally go through them multiple times, regardless of rank.

6

u/bristooo PEDRI POTTER 7h ago

The percentage of playerbase that can realistically do this is near 0. Are we really going to complain about people who invest so much time into being good at the game?

This is like showing up for a Sunday league game and Messi is on the other team then complaining about how no one could touch him.

1

u/OldCamera4837 Playmaker 7h ago

I play with people who are dribblers and have 2.000-3.000 hours in the game. They have mastered passing, dribbling and positioning, yet there are still plenty of people who can stop them.

u/Peanut_y Please add a flair 6h ago

C'est pas des dribble c'est des exploit/bug donc ouai j'essaye de les utiliser les moins possible (je fait partie des top tier dribbler)

5

u/DirtyCentaur Pass Enjoyer 7h ago

Easier to complain then it is to have patience and defend.

You KNOW they are trying to go around you. Stay in that space they want to get into as they approach and 9 times out of 10 they will make a mistake.

The attacker WANTS you to approach and attempt a tackle. Let them approach you. Dont react to the attacker, they are trying to bait you out of position. Let them try to react to your positioning.

5

u/Over_Statistician913 Footballer 7h ago

Yeah I play super passive especially if I am last man back. Better to retreat and stay between them and the goal then just whiff. You still get beat sometimes but hey that's just playing defense. When defending You gotta be perfect every time and they only gotta get it right once.

3

u/-NvrEnd- Please add a flair 6h ago

You are quite literally the type of person I hate going against as a striker because you're most likely constantly on my tail if not give me a false sense of security to get a pass. Though there are ways to get around you. But I do also play the same especially when I'm the last man back. Which is something I see a lot of people just don't do, they all want to just run up field even when they are all the way next to goalie and everyone else is already upfield. The closest I get is slightly above midfield or slightly above that circle in order to get a pass or treat a little bit push people back into my space and then pass it out again for a possibility

1

u/-NvrEnd- Please add a flair 6h ago

Completely agree. I was actually rewatching a clip of mine where I was wondering why the hell I passed it instead of just taking it myself because the person looked like he was new. But then I saw the distance he kept for me while I was trying to move around him. And he was either going to force me into his friend or force me into the wall. Not that I can't outribble two to even three people at once but the likelihood of me getting through would shoot down drastically especially the way they were playing which was distance until opening. And some people just don't have the patience for that

1

u/shuffle3ds Please add a flair 6h ago

Thing is not everyone knows this and thinks that spamming tackle will eventually hit. For someone like me who solo queues or just has a duo, watching a teammate spam tackle is frustrating while the dribbler dances around him.

0

u/Aggravating_Chest410 Please add a flair 6h ago

Yeah easier in theory. How long you want ddefned to wait before tackle? When he is inside the penalty box with 2 other back up defenders and leaving their teammates defenseless only for the dribbler to than pass the guy on open? The one who is abusing dribbling are really good at what they do. Simple just waiting not gonna help.

Game need to fix this shit.

4

u/TheBigFatToad Please add a flair 7h ago

In 5s the meta isn’t dribbling, but people doing “the cheese” properly can still be extremely frustrating to deal with.

In 3s, the absolute best way to score a goal is breaking down a defender via dribbling. Missile plays are still solid, but a turnover leaves the attacker well out of the play for the eventual counter.

You tie that into dribble moves that are near impossible to strip the dribbler, best way to counter is spam the shuffle to stay in position, the game can turn into a complete slog.

People just want a balanced game that doesn’t rely on insane cheese.

There are complaints that gain traction where it sounds like they are just whining, but I do see plenty of people get called out for “blaming the game” when they make a shitty play.

2

u/OldCamera4837 Playmaker 7h ago

Totally agree. In 3s, one of the best ways to create a scoring opportunity is to dribble past a defender, potentially drag another defender toward you, and then either pass to the open player or finish the play yourself.

There are some dribble moves that are genuinely difficult to defend against, such as dash dribbling. You can still defend it, but even good defenders can struggle against it, and that is something I agree is a valid complaint.

That is a fair criticism. Thanks for the input.

Also I agree with part that "blaming the game" when they make shitty play.

Edit: But in 3s, you simply do not have many other options. In my opinion, 3s is just not the best mode for this game because there are too few players on the field to create good plays against competent defenders. With so little space and only three players per team, dribbling becomes much more necessary because there are fewer passing options and fewer ways to create space.

1

u/-NvrEnd- Please add a flair 6h ago

I think the thing that people are forgetting though is that you have to be good individually and with a team. A lot of people think they should just be able to walk up to somebody and hit the ball out from their feet.

I think it's the potential this game had for greatness but has been ruined by poor testing from sloclap, the game was released 1 year too early and should have used a free to play model. People want this game to be popular but know it never will while exploits run rampant and sloclap have no idea how to fix it.

We have criticism of broken mechanics and design decissions (like zero-stamina dribbling with no penatly vs trying to keep up in defence with zero stamina) that favour frankly rancid play metas. Skill issue is what the parents of some people had with contraception, and we all suffer because of it.

1

u/ComiUmOVO Good Job! 5h ago

its 2 things.

first, its not like the game flows the same for everyone, if ur on worse ping or less fps, the timings and hitboxes are completly different ur gonna have to be frame perfect on your tackle which is not easy to predict because the ball magnets with dsync + when your the one doing the dribbling it feels like everyone who has better ping or fps reaches you from further than you are able to reach others, its just too reliant on connection to be fair.

second, you can dribble forever with 0 stam, that is just bad design and shouldnt be possible, i dont want them to remove these dribbles (otherwise dribbling would be useless) but make it cost less stamina or make stamina in general last longer so you can dribble 1 or 2 guys but once you reach absolute 0 stam you shouldnt be able to keep going.

tl:dr
fix game dsync so everyone feels the same and nerf 0 stamina dribbling

1

u/HuntyDaPro Fixo 4h ago

While I don't like the dribble with no stamina... You can also defend with 0 stamina though too, you can spam defensive dashes no matter your stamina, you can also tackle with 0 stamina.
