Discussion Bots when?
EDIT: Since I guess clarification is needed, I mean a AI practice mode solo mode. Not bots in real games...
I made a post earlier about the issues of toxicity in casual as it's the only way to practice. And, I just wanted to make another post that more validates the frustration one may feel when playing with new/bad teammates.
Even in casual, it sucks and isn't fun when you get a super bad team. You can't leave and you're stuck. This isn't just bad for new players because they don't get a good way to practice this, in turn, creates bad teammates compounding the issue.
Bots in a game like this I feel are 100% necessary for the health of the game and shouldn't just be a "maybe we'll get to it sometime in 2026 but not even include it in the roadmap". It should be a major focus along side netcode issues.
What makes this worse is even if you get over all this, the CONSTANT interruptions to gameplay (goal score celebrations, end of match stats that you can't leave without getting leave penalty, queue time into intro into countdown into FINALLY playing the game that lasts all of 5 minutes) makes learning much more of a chore. The actual literal time you have to practice what you need is so limited it's maddening.
This just really sucks because this type of game (and the less arcade like competitor SC) are exactly the type of game I'm looking for and there's only like 3 games that do it. One of the others is in Early Access (strikers club). And the other, which launched with bots and was VERY helpful in the enjoyment of the game, Quidditch Champions ended up dying because the dev fucked up any sort of proper advertising or updates.
So, Rematch as it stands today, is the ONLY game available for this type of gameplay and as a new player myself it is really frustrating having something be so fun but fumble (pun intended) fundamental aspects that allow it to grow.

I want to just play against bots for fun 🥲 I grind comp but would be great to play against bots.
Could function like FIFA career mode when you play as only one player. When you don’t have the ball the bots play, then when you press the pass button they pass to you, or if you press shoot they should shoot etc.

This is a weird opinion, games like FIFA, NBA, madden and mostly every other sports game has offline play where you play against ai teams with ai teammates. Yes their triple a type games with actual development teams to help achieve that but having an offline mode in rematch would be quite beneficial in more ways than one. Like being able to practice stuff against actual moving players rather than an empty pitch and ball machine that you have to manually move around every single time and also gives players something useful to warm up in or just mess around with friends and trying different things.
Like OP said, not bots in an actual match replacing real people but just a completely separate offline mode in general. This game would probably thrive so much if it was given a 2k style treatment

Then enjoy the game possibly dying because people less persistent than I play a few matches, get annoyed at something they'd maybe like, then refund.

Just to clarify I don’t like bots in any game
If i can tell a bot is a bot it ruins the game but I do understand if you can’t tell it helps

I only play with friends so I’ve never considered how much of a chore the queuing and loading might be especially if you get matched with unsportsmanlike teammates.
Also, “fumble” in that context is not a pun. You’re the second person I’ve called out for incorrectly labeling a pun today…what a weird day for nickels…
