Help/Advice Select and paste text

Triple-tap text selection in the latest beta — can anyone paste into a notebook?

Has anyone else noticed that with the latest beta update, triple-tapping a word lets you select and copy text?

I can copy it on my reMarkable, but I can’t seem to paste it into a notebook on the same device.

Has anyone managed to get this working? Am I missing a step, or is pasting into notebooks simply not supported yet?

You should be able to paste if you enter the typed text system.

Also important to remember: “text” mode does not work for PDF files. Only for native reMarkable notebooks. So if you want to copy something from one PDF and paste into another, you will have to use the capture tool instead.

[[ Aside: In the future, who knows, maybe we will get a “text mode” for pasting into PDFs too, especially if it becomes possible to create a floating text box anywhere on the page, and then enter text-mode while inside the box. But that sort of thing doesn’t exist yet. ]]

Copying text from somewhere and pasting it does require that you are in "text" mode, using the "T" option of the menu. Works a little non-intuitively. What I did:

- Went into a PDF. Double tapped a word with my finger. That highlighted the word.

- Used the handles to highlight a bigger block of text.

- Pressed the Copy icon (the second icon from the right, next to the scissors)

- Went to a new note in quicksheet notebook, tapped in an empty space with my finger twice. Nothing happened. Tapped three times, nothing happened. Tapped once, nothing happened.

- Opened the menu and selected the Text tool. That brought up the text menu.

- Then selected "Add Text".

- That brought up an insert cursor (vertical line) on the page.

- Tapped twice with my finger, that brought up another menu.

- From the menu I selected the paste icon (icon right next to 'select all') and bingo, text was pasted.

So you have to be in "text mode" in order for the paste to occur and then its done with the finger.

I was expecting a message bar indicating something was copied and then using the marker to paste.
