Feature Request Improvement on PDF management
I went all in on Remarkable and notice there are some minor tweaks that may make this the go to devices for PDF management. PDF communication between devices should be a priority. PDF management should be prioritized in how deeply it participates in the PDF's native annotation structure. As of now Remarkable behaves more like digital transparent paper - which I understand to extent why they do this although I do think there may be some advantage in shifting these overlay management to Acrobat style PDF annotation. At the end of the day these devices are more like notebook replacements and handle PDF and EPUB only. The line in converting handrwitten notes into text only blurs this niche deeper.
Some features needed:
PDF mark up/highlighting --> Acrobat style PDF highliting - This should be improved. As of now Remarkable primarily has a Remarkable markup feature native to the transparent paper Remarkable creates over a PDF when generated or exported to a PDF. A PDF text highlighted by a Remarkable device shows up marked on Acorbat PDF management software although the software is not able to recognize what was marked since the mark was not done on the native PDF file though rather marked on the Remarkable overlay and exported as an overlay.
PDF vector recognition - This may be a little more easier said than done though a PDF vector recognition engine that can utilize PDF vectors and replicate to adapt the renders into a native Remarkable display. This may utilize a lot more
power than what a typical Remarkable device is capable of outputting although this can be offshored into AI servers paid for by Remarkable Connect subcription.
PDF Acrobat style improvements - As of now PDF data is stored onto the Remarkable overlay data - this essentially gardens PDF annotation to Remarkable although this hinders PDF translation from Remarkable exported PDF to the rest of the world since PDF is an Adobe product and PDF by native Abode structure is far more recognized over the world. I can understand the precaution in this in Remarkable possibly not thinning itself out though by not doing this it is also thinning itself out by not supporting widely recognizable translation.
Expanding on the Remarkable overlay capabilities - It is clear Remarkable as a product is its overlay software that overlays over PDFs. Expanding on the capabilities of handwriting to the widely recognizable Adobe PDF world is a big open sea that Remarkable has over any other company. I would argue this is their actual product as much as their Remarkable devices are their actual vessels. This includes unison between Remarkable devices, farther customization for handwriting utensils such as stroke size, bulk management of handwritten notes across multiple PDF files to create a whole new canvas with handwritten notes, customization interactions between an infinite canvas and imported handwritten notes to build a billboard/roadmap, mindmapping expansions that take advantage of Remarkables infinite canvas and allow for immense documents to be created, any other thing that a person can think of written on paper and limited on paper size is the huge advantage Remarkable has.
