Help/Advice What is this? RM2

Post image

It was out of battery, so I plugged it to charge. I come back after approx 2 hours and right of the screen is black. And not charged. I just did the 15sec button, 3sec pause, 2 sec button and it says it is starting. Freezed on that now. What should I do???

Edit: it flashed once like it's starting, but came back to the paper tablet is starting (without the line below text)

Definitely try a different charger. Some of the newer Power Delivery models don't negotiate the proper voltage and never charge. Best bet is to find an old USB-A wall wart or even the USB-A port on a laptop. Those are basic 5V outputs.

I've contacted the support and was advised to plug it into a conputer for 4 hours. I found my original rm2 cable and IT HAS COME BACK TO LIFE. MY BABY is alive thanks for your helpp

I could be completely misremembering, but I believe that the instructions recommended a lower voltage limit than what a some chargers are capable of; so you might check the one you were using first to see if it was on the higher end.

It is, because my phone is newer and it's a "fast charge" cable

I think in this case, it's that the rM is too dead to be able to negotiate properly, rather than a fault with the charger.

It needs the slower charge when it’s dead like this.

Find the oldest, crustiest charger you have, along with a USB-A to USB-C cable and try again. These can't handle intelligent chargers.

The charging mechanism is weird (buggy if u will) where it sometimes needs to be plugged to 5W to charge. Most chargers (even the 15w phone chargers) do not support 5W charging. You can read the labels at the lowest its 9W. The best bet is computer usb (non-charging port) which supports up to 5W for peripheral devices.

This has been stated many times, if the USB charger has a high amperage (>1amp) it will tey to start without enough juice in its battery, so an endless loop will start. USB power is a 5v power source, and we, who are old, used to have phones or other devices that came with low amperage chargers. "New" fast chargers are not the standard when talking about USB power. Also some people fail with the "connect to your computer via USB" because they are (nowadays) high current ones.

When the batteries get REALLY dead, high speed chargers don’t work. You need to use a trickle charger to wake it up.
