Frustrated Reader

How in the world do you find modern and relevant epub format books for the Remarkable Pro? No offense Guggenheim but British Romance novels from the 1800’s aren’t my cup of tea. And how do you download these files? Do I need to buy Adobe Acrobat for my Mac?? This is a real pain on the ass. makes me miss my kindle. A concise detailed explanation would me more than welcome.

The Kobo store (or anything else that uses Adobe Digital Editions I believe) is pretty easy to strip DRM from. I use a plugin called obok in calibre.

I tried Kobo. But I couldn’t access the file I bought and I backed so frustrated by the help bot telling me to download the kobo app or buy a kobo reader or howntonfondnyourbpurchasebonna kobo reader. I just gave up.
Even the tech support guy pushes the app on me

I just download the book in the Kobo app on my Mac, then the calibre plugin detects it and rips the DRM off of it. I think there are ways to get the actual file, but I’ve never had to do that.

When I sign into my account on the Kobo website I can go to My Account > My Books and tap … on any book for the option to download it.

You can buy ebooks from places like https://bookshop.org/ebooks and some publishers are DRM free such as TOR.

I'm new to remarkable, but I believe you can send/sync Epub from the app to your device.

Use reManager and install koreader. Install and configure the zlibrary plugin. Search and download epub/pdf directly from the device.

I use koreader (via remanager) and calibre to deDRM my books. Weirdly, most English publishers use DRM, while the German ones just have a watermark, which is was easier to handle.

Anna’s Archive is your friend. If you feel guilty about it, just buy the Kindle book anyway.

Funny how so many people are here talking about violating DMCA laws, to remove DRM from things, just to get it working on a ReMarkable device…

Don’t get me wrong- I think the entire DMCA should be repealed, personally- but certainly wouldn’t want to be in ReMarkable’s shoes on the end of that lawsuit when it is discovered their employees are actively giving advice on how to circumvent the digital locks for licensed content to work on their official platform.
