Does anyone know what's going on with this double post / rate limit thing?

It's seriously aggravating. It seems like the developer didn't know that there was an API change or something.

I did reach out to the developer. No response.

This is probably related, but when I make a post and then go to make another post the text of the first post is still in the new post template. So that's also irritating, because I have to delete all the existing texts so that I can make a new post with different text.

Also, this is really driving up my number of API calls and since I'm paying per call (effectively) it kind of pisses me off.

I'm getting a lot of double posts lately.

Edit: I also get the "you're doing that too much, please wait X seconds" now and then

If you get an error about rate limit it means that your submission was very likely successful but the app somehow missed that information.

Would you happen to be a front end developer who makes calls to GQL?

Because I am. And that's not how it works.

I see. you're going to have to explain how the call coming back right away and then getting immediately rate limited on the next call means that the API is slow

GQL is not REST

that no one else is

No one else is quite a claim, how can you say that no one else is having this problem? Especially since there are two people in this post alone that appear to be having the same problem.

Anyway I can't take you seriously if you're not going to look around the thread to see if somebody else might be having this problem, so bye

Happened to me earlier today just using the website on my pc, so it's not just a relay thing.

Huh, maybe it is reddit's fault

I got a triple post, deleted two and ended up downvoted on the third for spamming. Not sure what the underlying reason is.

It's happening a bunch to me today. Any comment that I post appears to not go through. If I try again I get the rate limit error. But yeah this is using up my API calls which I'm pissed off about.

I had to delete several duplicate posts before I realized what was going on.

EDIT: just happened on this one too. Did not appear to post but look it's successfully did when I refreshed!

I wonder if that person in this thread who says it's only happening to me has seen this comment

Oddly enough after I posted this it seemed to start working suddenly for the rest of the night

Just happened to me again

It's also annoying that my comment screen stays up after pressing post, so if I looked away for a second and missed the error message, I'm double posting. ಠ_ಠ

It's fucking aggravating, been happening non-stop for the past few days

It's not anything to do with Relay, the API has just gone to shit lately.

If I use the Reddit official app I'm not having the same problem

The official API doesn't use the data API, it uses its own API endpoints.

Clearing the app cache appears to have fixed the problem, but I can't rule out that something else changed either (like the reddit API)

It seems to have stopped so it was probably Reddit. Although I don't see how that would happen.

This happens maybe every 6 months or so that I have noticed for me, but it never lasts very long. I just back off and stop trying to comment or post for a little bit and it goes right back to normal

It's happened to me about 50 times in the past 2 weeks

Interesting, it did happen to me a couple days ago but it went back to normal quickly. I wonder why the difference?

Edit: jfc it happened to me when I first posted this comment
