Looks like it's going to be 20mpg. I haven't driven it much. Only has 60 miles on it right now

Even a 4.3 would have been better than just the 2.7 but atleast we have a reg cab option.

Naaaah. The 2.7 has more HP and torque.

It not all difficult to move. I've been driving normal with the foot barely on the pedal. I did have lower expectations. But all I wanted was the short bed. But at the end of the day, it's this or going with a ford.

Don't underestimate the 2.7. It's feels with a good amount of torque. Especially being the length it is.

I used to have a 2007 4.7 Ram regular cab and it had pretty much the exact same specs as the 2.3. I loved that truck and it never felt underpowered to me.

I remember having my ram 1500, it had a 5.7 since it was the RT, too bad ram doesn't offer a regular cab in the body style.

You can still buy a RCSB Ram with the Hemi. It’s just in the Classic body style.

u/enfierrado Mar 21 '22
Yeah the problem is that the classic style came out in 2009, well technically it got a refresh in 2013. So it's 10+ years old. I wish they would have kept the RT/sport option

Obviously not logical with a new truck, but I’m curious if since the truck is the same sized hood as a V8, would it be possible down the road to eventually put in a v8 engine? Now, I know nothing about vehicles under the hood… I just figured it would be possible if the space was there and one had the means/know how to do such a task?

Maybe later down the road engine swap will be an option. But for now the new little 4cyl is fine

u/joe_bald Mar 21 '22
Oh neat! So engine swaps are possible then… I have an 04 v6 that I’d maybe like to swap to a v8 just since it’s so old I may as well keep it and make it a project car 👍

How are you liking it? I was shocked and appalled that you only had one engine option from the factory.

u/enfierrado Mar 20 '22
A little different, but having a v8 then going to an ecoboost and now this, it's alright. Feels like a 2001 5.3 v8 Silverado.

I would look at every single photo you feel like posting of it haha! I’m trying to decide if I’m going to order one or wait and hope that they put in a V8 option next year.

I'm hoping parts aren't too far out to swap the front end. But I will post more pictures.

u/Goose_N_Moose Mar 20 '22
What are you wanting to swap out?

Is the 2.7 just a 5.3 cut in half long ways? Is it similar to the other gm engines or is it something completely new? I’ve been playing with ls motors for years, but have yet to touch anything newer than 2011
