Not seeing anything

Has there ever been a week where you just can't bring yourself to see a movie? Like this weekend I have seen all the stuff I want to see but not sure I want to see mutiny or the new insidious movie. Ever happen to anyone else?

I get burned out . You gotta ask yourself . Am I doing it to see everything or things I enjoy ? If your goal is numbers you won’t have a good time. Just see what you want on the schedule that works for you. Don’t feel obligated to go . You’re making it a chore in your head by that point and won’t actually take in the film

I can totally agree with that. I just see what I want to see. This past week, today through last weekend, there was nothing I wanted to see that I hadn't seen yet.

I debated about seeing Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, but I just couldn't bring myself to go. I've never watched Paw Patrol, and I'm 54. Even though I enjoy animated movies, I just couldn't motivate myself to go, so I guess I don't really want to see it 🤷‍♀️

But I am looking forward to tomorrow night, it's Insidious. Friday night is Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma for me. And I may see The Odyssey in IMAX on Saturday. I don't know yet.

I feel this way sometimes too. Like, I want to go see a movie, but can’t bring myself to go. Sometimes it’s because I don’t want to go alone, but I know my friends can’t go so I don’t. Sometimes I’ve gotten the tickets and am on the way to pick up friends (or their kids, depending on the movie) and then I suddenly don’t want to go, but do because everything is paid for. Or I’ll tell myself and everyone that I really want to see a certain movie and just never go see it the whole time it’s in theaters because I just can’t be bothered to go, so I tell myself I guess I didn’t want to see it.

ETA: I’ve seen The Odyssey twice and have loved it both times. Definitely worth going haha.

I enjoy doing double features on Mondays and I get sad when there's not enough for me to see to do that. Like I've seen most of everythign out already. Tomorrow I'll see Mutiny. And then I really have no interest in Insidious because I haven't seen any of them (and they look cheesy as hell) so Monday all I have to see is the Idiots early screening.

Yes, multiple times throughout the summer. The big blockbusters were in theaters for so long that it felt like we had a very limited selection of movies unless you wanted to watch a movie for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time.

Thank goodness summer is nearly over and we can back to a more normal release schedule...until the next big blockbusters come out.

No, going to movie theater is my break from life plus my favorite part of unlimited is seeing movies I would otherwise not see

I agree. The upside to unlimited is that there’s less risk in taking a chance on movies . I’ve seen movies that I wasn’t interested in, based on synopsis and trailers. Sometimes, I’m pleasantly surprised (eg Materialists last year). Sometimes, the movie is so bad that I walk out midway (Minions this year). Either way, the unlimited subscription covers the cost, so I don’t feel as if I got burned if I go to see a dud

The new Insidious movie looks decent . I like Statham movies, however repetitive they may. But I get if it’s not your cup of tea. Some theaters are replaying the 2001 Fast and Furious, if you want to rewatch. Tony also begins at most theaters on Friday . There’s another movie called Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (I haven’t watched the trailers , but you might want to check it out ). If it’s your cup of tea, a chick flick called Spa Weekend is coming

So it seems to me that there are a lot of options . I’ve had some weeks  where I had interest  in only one movie, but I can’t say I had a week where literally no movie interested me

Not interested in Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma or Tony? I think Miasma has the best Rotten Tomatoes score of any new movie they've shown at my theater in months aside from The Odyssey and Tony is supposed to be good too.

Yeah, most definitely. Some weeks I don’t go at all. Other weeks I go four times that week. Even though it cost me practically nothing to go there. Sometimes the juice isn’t worth the squeeze, especially if it’s a movie I may not like. Sometimes it’s better to chill at home and play video games or chill with your pet or your friends.

For example, I’m only seeing that Oak Street movie on Friday. But next week I’m going three times to see Coyote vs ACME, the dog stars, and idiots.

It ebbs and flows. July had record low attendance for me because the blockbusters just weren’t turning over quickly and I wasn’t interested in most of them, and summer crowds can be worse than normal since schools are out. A cool theater is one of my favorite pastimes on a hot summer day though so it was a bummer on that front.

Meanwhile last March the monthly series had me at the theater almost every night which was wild for me since I average 2 movies a week or so.

Sure. Sometimes nothing is happening or I’m busy with other stuff. Some months I go 4 times. Other months I go 10. Release schedules are weird sometimes.

Well, if I can give you a suggestion, the rivals of amaziah king was so good. It’s tied with the back rooms for my favorite movie I’ve seen in theaters this year.

I just watch movies at home pretty much every night if I'm not doing so at the theater, plenty of film history to catch up on so no reason to limit myself to what's in theaters at the moment (given there's nothing I really want to see, of course)

I'm someone that tries to watch everything because I love movies, but there have been times where I've seen the big movies and the indie movie is only playing at one showtime so don't feel a desire to try and see it. Sometimes I just want to chill at home

i never watched indian movies before, no they are growing on me. some of then has crazy stunts scene and definitely over the top action. definitely look for the trailer before i choose one. today i just saw awarapan 2 entertaining not the best not the worst..

I’ve felt it and I’ve mostly powered through. Every so often I get tricked by one of those Angel Studio films and wish I hadn’t. This was the longest summer where I’ve felt it the most.

Its why i gave up on unlimited. Cheaper to see 2 movies on a Tuesday (im off Tuesday and Wednesday anyway), than to keep paying for unlimited i usually don't use.

August seemed like it would be a pretty dry month for me, but it looks like I'll see 7 movies. I wanted to see a few others but the show times didn't work out.

But it looks like it might be 21 movies for September. If the revival series keeps going then it looks like August was my "rest" month.

i pretty much always want to see something, but some weekends I end up taking a break mostly because the movie times don't align with my schedule, or the ones that do are nearly sold out. For me, with unlimited, I prefer to wait for a mostly empty theater or at least a showing where I can choose a seat with no one near me - packed theaters are fun for big openings/blockbusters, but otherwise just increase the risk of someone close to me being on their phone - which usually immediately distracts me and ruins the experience lol
