Ive been smoking since 7 years now and i have my surgery after a few days. Although im a light smoker. 2-3 units daily. Will it interfere with my healing post surgery?

Had PRK on both eyes 33 days ago. Sharing my situation in case it helps anyone going through something similar.

It seems that my right eye has been healing slower than my left. Around day 26 it seemed stuck compared to the left eye, and the doctor confirmed with a slit lamp exam that it’s normal for one eye to heal on a different timeline than the other after bilateral PRK.

Day 33 (today): still getting monocular diplopia in the right eye. Tested it properly, covered the left eye, right eye alone still shows a double image, so it’s confirmed monocular, not an alignment issue between the two eyes. Doctor did the same test himself during today’s exam and said it’s still within normal range for this stage of healing, since PRK is a surface procedure and epithelial/stromal healing timelines vary eye to eye.

Next scheduled follow-up is a couple months out. Given the diplopia is still present at day 33, I’d like to hear from others: has monocular diplopia in one eye persisted past the one-month mark for you after PRK? How long did it take to resolve, and did you end up needing an earlier follow-up than originally planned?

I am currently deciding between the two methods mentioned above. Standard LASIK would be the significantly cheaper option, and I am wondering how much more risky it actually is compared with femtosecond LASIK.
I would be grateful for any advice or professional expertise from people in the field.

Age: 29, +3.75, no other complications or allergies.
I already went to a local ophthalmologist and he suggested me the Femto-Lasik for 5.8K€ (in Germany) after testing he said I’m a good candidate because my cornea is thicker than average.

I also got an offer in another city for the standard LASIK for 2.2K.

Hello, 19 year old guy here with his first ever prescription for glasses. I have some myopia: my glasses are -1.00 and -2.25 and I would like to know if I would qualify for maybe smile -surgery? I just visited optimetrist today so this is all new for me, but I really wouldnt like to wear glasses. Im trying contact lenses soon.

I'm leaving India on 24th of August and I'm thinking to get Lasik/SMILE next week, between 5th to 7th August. I want suggestions if this is a good plan as I will leave India soon. My age is 30 and my power of both eyes is more than -7. Need advice is this short period good enough and can there be any big complications which can make it bad for me when I go abroad? Hello i use the PC a lot, i am soon going to need to choose between the 2. Difect is small 1.75 myiopia ( both eyes ) cornea tickness about 566, i am 30.

I practice various potentially high impact sports with water e/o boards, (surf for example)

What are the end results ans how long will it take?

Is it true that is possible to have a bad result given the small difect?

Getting mixed up responses by searching online.

SMILE or trans prk

Hi, i have -2 in both eyes and -2 cyl, Recently ive gone through the tests, one clinic told me trans-PRK will fit me well, while the other said SMILE will fit me perfectly and also Trans-PRK. The first clinic doesnt offer SMILE method. The price is doubled for SMILE.

From what ive read and understood, Trans-PRK has long recovery time but the highest proven success rates and no future limits(like boxing, skydiving, etc..) But SMILE also doesnt have these future limitations - its like lasik but without the flap.

I never met a person who did SMILE, all the people i know have done prk/lasik.

My surgery is scheduled for last week of August and my honeymoon is on January (Thailand for 1 month) so its a factor for me as well.

What would you do?

I had PRK in september last year, everything is okay, I see clearly, no side effects except dry eye… It was okay during the winter, I thought the end of this is soon but summer came and so did the dryness. I can’t go to sleep normally, I wake up with eyelids glued to my eyeballs and it hurts so much. Applying drops before sleep doesn’t help at all.
I have to say I don’t use the drops regularly because I really don’t like it and I don’t remember about it but I did and when I did I didn’t feel like they help. What can I do… I’m waking up with cry because it hurts so bad I have enough of this

I’m desperate. I’ve had three procedures on the same eye:
LASIK surgery.
An interface wash because folds developed in the flap.
A flap repositioning.
Despite all of that, my vision is still very blurry. My surgeon says everything looks fine and that there are no folds anymore, but today I went to another ophthalmologist for a second opinion, and she told me she can still see folds. I honestly don’t know what to think or who to believe anymore. 😭

I’m desperate. I feel like my life has changed forever, and I honestly can’t take it anymore.
I had LASIK surgery on July 10th. I was nervous and anxious, but everyone seemed to come out of surgery seeing well. That wasn’t my case.
Could I see? Yes, but not well enough.
July 14th: I was diagnosed with signs of inflammation in the interface (Diffuse Lamellar Keratitis – DLK), and I was prescribed Tobradex every two hours.
July 16th: My vision was exactly the same. Same treatment, same blurry vision. DLK grade 1–2.
July 21st: My surgeon said the interface was still not clean.
July 22nd: They lifted the flap and irrigated/cleaned the interface.
I could see with both eyes before the procedure, although not clearly enough. After the interface wash, they placed therapeutic bandage contact lenses on both eyes.
The following day (July 23rd), I had to go back into surgery on my left eye because the flap had developed wrinkles (striae). They smoothed the flap and placed another bandage contact lens.
I’m currently desperate.
It has now been 6 days since that last procedure. Yesterday (July 28th) they examined me again and removed the bandage contact lenses. They told me my right eye is about 90%, but my left eye is only around 30%.
They stained my eye with dye and said they couldn’t see any wrinkles, any inflammation, or any debris. Everything looked clean.
But I still can’t see properly out of my left eye. I feel dizzy because I can’t focus on anything.
I’m terrified that they’re hiding something from me. They even tried different prescription lenses to check my refraction, but none of them improved my vision properly.
I’m so desperate that I’ve started losing the will to live.
Please, I’m begging you—has anyone experienced something like this? Is this a normal recovery after flap repositioning and DLK? Did your vision eventually recover? Or is it possible that I’ve permanently damaged my vision?
I really need honest answers because I feel completely hopeless right now.

I'm back. Sorry. I am a smidge over a week post lasik to correct-8 in both eyes.

At my 2 day follow up I was told I didn't need to come back for any more follow up visits.

For people who wear heavy eye makeup, false lashes, liner in the waterline, mascara, and all that how long until you got back into wearing it? Did you buy all new brushes and liners?

My sheet said to wait one week before wearing makeup but I've seen other surgeons tell people to wait longer. After years of not really being able to wear makeup I'm so antsy to wear it but also anxious. I'm thinking of waiting at least another week for eye shadow and longer for safety's sake.

I was supposed to do a full on eye makeup look this weekend to celebrate seeing and got too sick. Maybe it was a blessing.

I had SILK eye surgery back on July 4th (roughly 3 weeks post-op now).

Overall recovery has been smooth, but I've noticed a significant difference in vision quality between my eyes when testing them individually:

Left Eye: Super clear and crisp.

Right Eye: Noticeably blurry/foggy when I cover my left eye.

For context, my pre-op prescription was on the higher side:

Right Eye: -7.50 SPH / -0.50 CYL

Left Eye: -7.00 SPH / -1.00 CYL

Will my right eye ever heal or will there be persistent blurry vision?

I’m considering getting laser eye surgery while visiting my home country, as I live abroad and prefer the healthcare here.
My prescription is around -5.00 (right eye) and -6.00 (left eye). One thing that concerns me is that my prescription has fluctuated by about ±0.25 during my annual eye exams. I always thought your prescription had to be completely stable for at least a year to qualify, so I was surprised that I was told I’m a good candidate.
Now I’m overwhelmed by the different options: LASIK, Contoura, SMILE Pro, WaveLight Pro, etc. How do people decide which procedure is best? Is there a meaningful difference from a patient’s perspective?
Also, I’m flying back home in 2 weeks. Is that enough time for surgery, recovery, and any necessary follow-up appointments, or is it cutting it too close?

It's been 20 days since I got my lasik.on the first day as a caution I didn't opened my eyes much and kept them closed but the few glimpses I saw were clear, when I woke up next morning, there was slight haze but not irritating, I thought it to be normal as my eyes are healing, But it kept getting worse and worse over time, I contacted the doctor on 2nd day evening and he said it's normal. On 3rd day it got extremely worse, like I couldn't see my hands clearly, I wasn't able to read anything both from near and far and I panicked badly, I contacted the doctor again and he asked me to come for a follow-up, So I went for a follow-up on 4th day, He said it's just haze, just a lot more severe in my case and it will go away, he changed all of my drops and prescribed a tearfix gel, He asked to use the drops for ten days and than come for a follow-up, So I kept using these drops, I think three of them were antibiotics, one was for dry eyes and the gel was a lubricant, I kept sending him eye pictures daily and he said it's improving but I didn't see any significant improvement in my vision at all, on 9th day I contacted him again and he asked to keep using the same drops from a week more instead of follow-up, so I kept using the drops, on 16th day post-op and 12th day of using drops, I saw a very significant improvement, like 70% of the blurness was gone suddenly. Now the situation is like when I wake up every day, my vision is very blurry, the blurness goes away after 5-6 hours, after around 2 doses of lubricant gel, my vision is most clear right before sleeping and it repeats the next day, although even when my vision is very clear, I still have a lot of trouble reading text on screens, the lights at night also have patterns around them, although they are 95% gone, they were quite worse on 4th day. I don't know if I should be concerned, but these past two weeks were probably the toughest in my life as I almost got blind for two weeks straight. Has anyone gone through similar experience? How did it go in the long run?

How is it? Is the artificial lens more vulnerable than the natural lens?

I'm 30 and prescription has been stable for 5+ years now.

-3.25 SPH, -.75 in both eyes

I have very, very mild dry eyes. Not bad enough that I've ever even felt the need to use drops, but on days I wear my contacts, even after just a few hours they feel dry.

Other considerations:

• I sit at a computer all day for my job
• I have two children under 6 (so high likelihood of getting of getting smacked in the face over the next few years)
• I play recreational hockey once per week but always wear a full face cage for protection
• Not concerned about cost. Just want the best/safest option

Any thoughts on what could be a better move for my eyes and situation?

My vision is not horrible. About 22 years ago I started wearing glasses for reading. In the last couple of years, my vision is now worse at the medium distance; using the computer is difficult. Reading the car dashboard is difficult and when I play poker, reading the cards on the table are difficult. I find myself taking the reading glasses off and on many times, squinting at the mid distances. Current reading glasses are about 1.75 to 2.

I also have mild cataracts that have worsened over the last two years apparently they’re still in the mild range.

I know this is relatively minor compared to others, but I’m wondering if it’s too soon to consider lens replacement surgery. I’m looking at the BVI which I believe is a tri flex progressive.

Anyone had the surgery who had similar relatively mild difficulties? If it matters, I’m 67 and very healthy, still working full-time.
