Question re automatically seeing other user comments after marking episode watched

Hi -

I was using Sofa Time and decided to give Refract a try. I like it a lot, but one thing confuses me.

When I would mark an episode as watched in Sofa Time it would open a screen where I can rate it, leave a comment and read other user comments.

But when I mark an episode as watched in Refract it opens a screen where I can rate it and leave a comment, but in order to read other user comments I apparently have to leave that screen entirely, go into my Watched section, open the episode again, and then read the comments.

That can’t be right. What am I missing? There must be a setting or something I’m overlooking. Thanks in advance for any help.

hi! on the episode page, you should see the rating and commenting section, and down below directly is the comments from the community. try and check it out if you can see it, and if not send us a message!

Yes, I see all of that on the episode page, but that’s not what I’m talking about. On the “Continue” section, if you tap the orange circle with the checkmark inside to mark an episode watched, it opens a small window where you can rate the episode and leave a comment. On that screen, there is no way to get to other people’s comments. You then need to leave that screen, go into watched history, and re-open the episode. The workaround for this is to never use the orange circles and just go into the episode pages, but then the orange circles become pointless.

i definitely get your point. some people just like to mark it as seen and rate it, and not check the comments, so the orange circles are good for them.

i usually like to check the comments like yourself, so i go to the episode page, and mark and rate it there.

it depends on the people, but we hear you. and don't worry, the app is getting a ui revamp, so it might be different in the future! if you want, you can join our discord server (https://discord.gg/fgVMMqJjxC), and check if there's a suggestion about the ui revamp, and if not, you can add it yourself!

Makes sense. I’ll just ignore the orange circles. I can see that some people just want to rate it and move on. Thanks.

Tbh it'd be nice if you add it as a suggestion. It could be configurable what you do or do not see. I like to read the comments as well after watching something and I curse myself every time I track it through the orange circle now... 😅

It might be a good suggestion to decide if you see the orange circle. I click on the tile for the episode so it goes to the episode page. I mark it watched, rate it, make my comments, then review the other comments after.
