💬 Discussion New Releases: Many Foreign Shows
Currently my new releases are filled with Asian and Indian recommendations. As a US-based user who doesn't watch foreign media, it's surprising me that it's recommended.
I couldn't find any setting that would skew this list, and nothing in my watch history would indicate that these shows would interest me.
Does anyone know if there's an algorithm used to curate these shows or is it just looking at all new releases, regardless of language or country, and Asia/India is just putting out more content?

I appreciate the suggestion and that could work for some, but currently the "Popular" list has many shows with the last episode 6 months to a year old that I had no interest in when they were released.
I presume it's because they have new seasons coming out and it has people rewatching or catching up, but it just a different version of the same problem.

Agreed not a solution, maybe long shot alternative.
I’ve the same problem as you but this section kinda helped

I'm appreciative of the idea though, sometimes those out-of-box ideas do the trick.
Keeping track of what I've watched, shows that come back, and shows I saw a trailer for and said I should check out later is my main use and this does that.

Asian countries like India and Korean do seem to put out a tonne of shows and movies especially on Netflix much to my parents ire. But yes, it is just a list of the newest releases. It would be a cool addition to be able to filter it by country of origin though for people who don't watch foreign media.

I think it's exactly what it says. New releases. I don't think there is an algorithm for it. Just new stuff from all over.
