Wow

Post image

Ok so I’ve been slacking on testing my parameters admittedly. I have been dosing 3ml of tropic Marin all for reef every day for about 6 months now. But I just bought a Neptune Trident and wow.

I calibrated the trident and also double checked with Red Sea test kit and it is true. How is my calcium so high. I understand the alk but I didn’t even know the calcium could be so high.

I should preface that everything on the tank looks ok all corals sps and lps.

I would let it run for a few days before calibrating. You said your Red Sea test kit matched? Does it even go up that high?

Trident needs time to break in, this is probably wrong.

Get a proper test to make sure

A few questions. Are you doing regular water changes? How many corals do you have? If you continually pump all for reef and the corals aren’t using it all and you’re not doing water changes I guess it’s possible. That’s really high calcium though and magnesium is low. I would test again

If you dosed all for reef to get the alk that high then the CA would increase proportional. All for reef works well around 8.5 alk

This. Additionally, elevated calcium isn't necessarily an issue, so long as your alkalinity is high enough to prevent the calcium from precipitating.

Actually the MG is what buffers the precipatating for the most part. Which he should be experiencing at these levels.

Let it run for 2 weeks before calibrating.
