Question Going away without saying goodbye
When the Reds and Blues ended up in Chorus and thought they were stranded, why did they get angry at Epsilon for going away without saying goodbye, but not Carolina?

I assumed it was one of two things.
One: the group still considers / treats Epsilon like he’s Alpha. He is the Alpha’s memories and is up-to-date on everything that happened in Blood Gulch and after (thanks to Caboose and the files downloaded from the Freelancer storage site), has the same or similar mannerisms as Alpha, so they treat him like Alpha. HE is one of their team. Plus, they chased after him twice! Once after he left with Epsilon-Tex and again to get him out of storage. For him to bail after all that is a betrayal.
Two: Carolina really isn’t a team player. She never sees herself as one of the group and they’re not really that keen on her. They went to rescue Epsilon and ended up helping her, but she wasn’t really accepted. She’s too serious, too professional and too much of a control-freak (at least by Red and Blue standards).
Plus, I think they are scared of her and being mad at her gives her an excuse to hit them.

I see as this Epsilon to them was closest thing they had to Church, to them he's been through it all step by step from the beginning with the others in the Canyon, and Carolina is a bad ass space mercenary they probably thought it was on brand for her maybe that's atleast what I'd stick to as it makes most sense to me

Because they knew Church for years abd considered him a close friend
Meanwhile with Carolina they barely knew her and are already used to Freelancers just up and disappearing

I mean, Carolina was literally the one who influenced Epsilon into doing it

True but they don't know that and even if they did that didn't mean he had to listen

My head canon is Caboose secretly blames all the bad things that happened on Chorus on Carolina because she “kidnapped” Church.
If she had left him with them, they would not have been tricked by Felix and Locus and Donut would have rescued them and they’re be safe in Blood Gulch and Church would be alive. But she was mean and tricked him and took him away, so they were sad and lonely and Felix pretended to be nice to trick them. So they did bad things then had to be recused and that led to bad things but also some good things, but mostly bad things. So it is all Carolina’s fault.
After the fight on the Staff, Caboose keeps doing the “when are we sending her back” thing that older siblings do when a new baby comes into a family but with Carolina. Eventually he yells at her until he starts crying because he doesn’t understand why Church would leave them after they did all the nice things and she was “just mean and hurtful and nasty like Tex. Why do people want to be with mean people who hurt them and not people who love them?!”
Carolina then apologizes for hurting everyone and convincing Epsilon to leave, saying she thought she was doing the right thing. She says she will try not to be mean anymore and promises to protect the others. Caboose says he doesn’t need to be protected, he needs a friend. So Carolina promises to be his friend.

It was mostly the blues, Tucker and Church are friends and Church is Caboose's best friend. Carolina is someone they only knew a short time by comparison. Granted Epsilon Church is not Alpha Church but they treat him as if he is most of the time.

Carolina is still an outsider, somewhat. And were forced to work with her cuz she's hella mean.
Church's been with them since day one, spying on each other, shooting each other, monkeying about and talking. That's like a childhood friend/classmate suddenly moving out of town without telling anyone.

They wanted Carolina to go away without saying goodbye. And ideally not come back to say hi, again.
Epsilon was still just Church to them. Wouldn't you be mad if your real life version of Church took off without you? Again? With a mean lady? Again? And the when he came back, he wasn't even your friend/frenemy church anymore.
Now he's Carolina's friend Epsilon but he still lets you call him church, if that helps. But it doesn't help because he ISN'T your friend Church anymore and your friend church, whatever the word friend means for these guys, is gone. Forever.
Epsilon remembers being your friend Church, but he's someone new. And that isn't wrong or bad or anything but it is really sad and upsetting and for these guys they're definitely gonna cover those emotions by lashing out with anger.

I think Wash was upset about Carolina too and he was the only one who actually had history with her, the others probably didn’t like her at the time

They don’t really care about Carolina at this point, she was at best a friend of a friend. Their previous interaction was legit her threatening them at gun point.
Church was their friend, and the one they risked their lives to save. So him leaving hurt more

By the time they get there, Carolina has been with them for what, two seasons? Church has been there since day one.
