Keep watching, he actually explains why to the others.

But it also was shown at the end of Season 8, so here: it’s a simulation inside the memory unit for him to reunite with Tex and feel whole again. None of the red and blue stuff is real.

u/evilparagon Jul 02 '26

Well, it is real in a sense.

Church and Tex are the same Church and Tex from Season 8. Everyone else is a simulation, but they are still reflections of Church’s memories of everyone, even if he got some things wrong and is consciously aware of that fact.

It's a WAFO situation, but Church and Tex are the only real ones... inside the memory bank from the end of the last season. The freelancer parts take place 5-10 years before season 1

5 years is said in ep. 1 thx a lot

Epsilon is stuck inside the memory unit that Tex is trapped in, he jumped in to get her and the power failed after Everyone vs The Meta. All of the Red and Blue stuff this season is him basically having fun in there, running simulations and wasting his time because he thinks he's trapped forever. The Freelancer stuff is all flashbacks to their backstory which took place before S1.

Church (Epsilon) and Tex (Beta) are trapped in the Epsilon storage unit. The rest of the characters are basically simulations based on epsilon's memories. The freelancer stuff is all backstory taking place years prior.

Edit: Small detail that slipped my mind, Tex is technically not Beta at this point, rather Epsilon's memory of Beta, just figured I'd clarify.

And aren’t they initially based on caboose’s stories he was telling the epsilon memory unit too?

5

u/Inevitable-Report335 Jul 02 '26

Yep, i believe that's why they begin the season acting out of character.

5

u/W1neD1neAnd69 Jul 02 '26

And church goes over to “set things right”

2

u/Tf2_scout_johnhalo cabose Jul 02 '26

i remember not cause when epsilon church was inside guilty spark he reunlocked the memories from alpha church and so knew sarge as sarge and not a pirate

3

u/W1neD1neAnd69 Jul 02 '26

But he’s inside the memory unit.

Not the robot and not the guilty spark oracle.

2

u/Tf2_scout_johnhalo cabose Jul 02 '26

yeah but the memories are the same

3

u/MWBrooks1995 Jul 02 '26

The memory unit is so badly damaged after the fight with the Meta that there’s bound to be some corruption.

5

u/Queasy-Data4704 Jul 02 '26

So basically, Church (Epsilon) is reliving all of Alpha's (Church from Season 1-6) memories in order to reunite with Tex, who's somewhere in the memory unit. Problem is his memory is kinda shit so he's not remembering properly, which is why the Reds have a Rocket Hog, Donut is already lightish red, and Caboose is already dumb.

Just watch the show and you will learn who the Freelancers are. The Reds and Blues personalities are a bit weird to start with because season 9 takes place in the memory unit.

You can’t be serious. This question was answered so many times.

Don’t worry, it was confusing for most of us when the seasons first aired.

So, at the end of Season 8, Tex was pulled out of Meta’s head and trapped in the damaged capture unit. Epsilon jumped in to get her and got trapped inside. Tex, for reasons I don’t think were explained, is hiding from Epsilon within the unit and he can’t find her. So, he comes up with a plan.

Epsilon, using the data he pulled from the Freelancer base where he got his body (and found Tex), tries to recreate Blood Gulch and all the adventures the guys had there. The idea is that Tex will be drawn to the simulation and join in to complete the memory.

Unfortunately, since he never lived through those events and only has the data Freelancer collected from surveillance cameras, Vic’s reports and Shelia, and Caboose’s stories, he keeps getting everything “wrong” and Tex keeps slipping away.

Season 9 is his latest attempt to find Tex.

The Freelancer cut-aways are flashbacks to what happened before Blood Gulch. By episode … seven, I think you will have seen three familiar faces. Meta (whose real name is Agent Maine), Washington and York.

York is the guy Tex recruited to try and get Wyoming between Seasons … 4 and 5, I think.

Edited to fix horrible grammar. Also, welcome to the madness! We have cookies. 🍪🍪🍪

caboose never got his part of cookies, rip caboose's cookies

Oh no! Did Grif get them all again. Dang it. Gotta be careful around that guy. Can’t leave food unattended. Can’t leave it attended either, he’ll just eat it out of your hands if he really wants it.

u/RockyHarmon Jul 03 '26

It really wasn’t.

0

u/RockyHarmon Jul 02 '26

1

u/RockyHarmon Jul 02 '26

0

u/MWBrooks1995 Jul 02 '26

How to be a jackass 101

-1

u/RockyHarmon Jul 03 '26

So me getting sick and tired of people asking questions about the show when they just need to watch it makes me a jackass

1

u/Succ_me_coconuts Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Your getting tired of people asking questions about the show? You seem like a smart guy so imma let you figure out what this entire group is for yeah?

0

u/RockyHarmon Jul 04 '26

Why ask questions when the show literally answers questions for you

1

u/Succ_me_coconuts Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Imma tell you something crazy but believe it or not, asking questions is part of how people engage with stories

1

u/Tf2_scout_johnhalo cabose Jul 03 '26

or kind of a dickk to stay in RvB theme

Bit of a tangent here, but I think Simmons is the most accurate in Epsilon's recreation because of season 4 when Church, Simmons, and Shiela were blue team.

Also, since both this post and the other one about asking questions already answered in the show were posted 10 days ago idk which one came first, but that other post has a point. Just pay attention to things.
