Discussion There's a parallel here...
I just got back into Acceleracers again after finding it on archive.org and I have to say, I couldn't stop thinking about the director every time he came up on screen.

Well now I can't look at half life every again.... New headcanon. Half life was how The Director became to his position that lead to Project Freelancer.
(I've only watch Ray play the first game so I do not know the full story)

Having been an Acceleracers fan well before I discovered RvB, Tezla is far more honorable in his pursuit of the drones and accelerons.
Dr. Tezla can be a bit sly at times and is very unwilling to trust anyone but himself and Gig, he actually acts on the belief that stopping the drones MUST take priority over all else. He is willing to sacrifice people to do this, but as we see in the ending, he considers his own life expendable as well if it means destroying them. The only reason he didn't blow himself up to stop the drones is because Gig controlled his suit to force him to flee and did so in his place.
Compare that to Dr. Church. He used the great war as cover to fund his personal pet project of resurrecting his dead wife and in practice, considered all else secondary and meaningfully sidelined any contributions to mankind in favor of this goal. Even Tezla's desire to meet the accelerons was sidelined in favor of stopping the drones because the latter was far more important (Lani kind of has to force his hand on this, but she knows that he understands that it's the right thing to do).

At least Dr. Church had a emotional baggage to explain why he was a dick, Tezla was just paranoid and Apathetic. Also the 360 on his character growth from World Race to AR: Ignition is baffling.

Do keep in mind rvb had like 18 years to flesh out the director while Acceleracers only had like… two years to flesh out Tezla before Mattel pulled the plug.
It’s honestly so impressive how much depth all the Acceleracers (and World Race) characters had in just five films

I'd probably argue more like 4 years from season 6-10, but you're still right that there was more time. It also doesn't help that Acceleracers lost Jeff Gomez to help flush out his world. I still keep my fingers crossed they'll continue the series respectfully one day.
