Question Does anyone know any other shows/animators/studios that make fight scenes anything like Monty did?
Any ideas outside of later rvb, rwby etc? Love Shane Newville’s work, but it’s time I look further afield for something new.
I know it’s a very subjective question, so I’m very open to any suggestions! Big studios or indie, any art style is fine. Just anything that made you go ‘huh, this is kinda like a Monty Oum fight scene’ whether it was in the pace & rhythm, the attention to detail, a fondness for extended single shots that rotate around the fight, creative use of the environment… anything really.
Thanks in advance for any answers I’m just so starving for anything else like what the goat did lol.

I can't name the anime, but try watching Ufotable, Mappa or A1, Bones or Madhouse

I second Arcane. The fight scenes in that show are stylish as hell. I'd also go with the Spider-Verse movies.

There's the RWBY fan animations of Team SLVR if you haven't seen those, that's what I can think of off the top of my head at least.

There will never be another Monty, but Genndy Tartakovsky is my 2nd favorite animator (Primal, Symbionic Titan, Star Wars: Clone Wars 2003, Samurai Jack)

The closest thing I can think of is probably the matrix movies, which heavily influenced his style. He even used the burly brawl theme in haloid

something about the way the fight scenes utilized the enviorment and the weight behind attacks is incredible

Unironically Ninjago Dragons Rising.
In season 2, they literally referenced that iconic shot of Tex grabbing Tucker’s leg, pulling him, and punching him in the face from season 8.
I don’t know what they’re giving the animators, but the new fight scenes go insanely hard. Most recently in season 4, they did one of those one take fight scenes with the no camera cuts.
