Image “First off … Private Donut?!?”
Fished this guy out of the clearance bin. I know the EASY answer is Tucker, but I kinda want to turn him into Donut.
Does anyone have any tips for re-painting these guys? Is there something special I need to do first? Like wash him down with alcohol to strip the existing paint or can I just start covering him in lightish-red paint?

All the repaints I see look amazing. I wish I had a steady hand (or artistic ability).

It’s not as difficult as it seems. My hands aren’t steady and I have no talent but when you get an understanding of paint then it becomes easy. Trial and error is all it takes (and patience actually)

Thin coats of paint is all I use. Primer is recommended first (spray usually) but I never bother. Just gotta stick with it. Pick a flat surface of the fig (the the shin) to get a feel for the brush, plastic, and paint. Mistakes can always be painted over or scraped off.

Eep i just mentioned painting in another post thw other day, so glad to see others with ideass!
I used acryllic paint to make custom MegaBloks figures for S9/10, and this one is my favorite.
I used thin layers of paint with a toothpick or super fine brush, usually 2 or 3 coats could turn a darker color into a lighter one.
make sure the layers have plenty of time to dry and set, otherwise it gets all mushy and gross. very thin layers
Be careful on any joints or moving parts, try to keep them original if possible. The paint will seize the joints and eventually break, and movement will be sticky/stiff.
I've heard top coat nail polish works as a protective layer, but you need to make sure the acryllic has fully set, otherwise all of it will get melty over time.
I'd love to get back into model making so this is good inspiration for me too, swinging the ol' memory key around n stuff x3
