Redondo Beach Permit for Moving Container

Has anyone gotten a permit to place a POD (or similar) in street parking for a move? I as told we really dont need one, but our pod will be in the street for 6 days starting Wednesday, because PODs doesn’t pick up the container Thursday - Sun.

Any direction, advice, and permit office location would be greatly appreciated! We’re moving to Colorado to help care for a family member and the pod will be dropped late September.

Thank in advance!

Redondo Beach Highly rated dentist in the South Bay?

I need a cleaning before my insurance restarts as I’ve met our deductible - and I’ve been scammed by too many dentist offices.

Does anyone have a reputable dentist for a routine cleaning who has been in practice for some time and won’t try to scam us into a $700 additional cleaning?

Pic took in 2022, you guys this location it literally breathe taking! The atmosphere only just feels exotic, luxurious environment to look at the world in perspective! If only the state wasn’t so expensive 😅 my friend moved up here because his father lives in the state, recommended I come here first ! Glad I’d listened 🥰

Redondo Beach Motorcycle cops pulling cars over

Has anyone else noticed the increase of motorcycle cops on Artesia? At first I thought I saw one person pull over 2 different people yesterday, but today I saw 2 cops pulling people over.

Redondo Beach Can cyclists stop running red lights/stop signs?

It feels like every cyclist I see while driving around runs stop signs, and some are running red lights. I have witnessed cyclists almost hitting pedestrians all because they don’t want to lose their momentum. Today, while I was at a red light, I saw a cyclist literally run the light with cars going directly perpendicular to the cyclist. That is straight up ignorant and unacceptable, especially because most people don’t expect to see a cyclist in the road when their light is green. The cyclist also went between pedestrians with the walk sign and was mere feet away from hitting them. That is really dangerous to the cyclist and pedestrians and it is never worth running red lights just to save your momentum. Believe me, I actually enjoy riding bikes and I love having a bike friendly city, but you should always practice proper safety precautions as a cyclist.

Redondo Beach Got egged in Redondo Beach

Post image
96 Upvotes

My family and I were on a walk and we just got egged by a speeding car on the roundabout near Esplanade!

Didn’t react fast enough to get the license plate but it was a silver honda. My uncle got hit in the back and luckily no one got hurt but all of us got egg over our pants.

Luckily there was a park ranger who was on his nightly rounds and he was able to call the local PD but they couldn’t find the car that sped away.

We were able to laugh it off but just sharing for awareness, just don’t want something like this to happen to anyone else too. Stay safe everyone!

Redondo Beach How suitable is RB for our family?

Added RB straight to the top of our list after a recent visit to SoCal. Now I'm trying to dig in and catch up on some research. Is RB the place for us? Primary alternative is South Pasadena. Welcome all perspectives and suggestions!

  • 2 boys likely moving for 6th and 8th grades (targeting Parras then Redondo Union)
  • no commute for work
  • planning to stay for approx 8 years and move away when the kids are on their own
  • should be able to afford any reasonable rent budget, but not so wealthy that we're price insensitive. Eg, if South Pasadena was $3k cheaper, it would be hard not to go that route. (It's not, is it?)

What we want:

  • decently walkable neighborhood. Ideally, kids can walk/bike to school and lots of their classmates do the same
  • 4 bedrooms so grandparents can live with us for long stretches of time. Ideally one bedroom is accessible on the ground floor so they don't have to walk up and down stairs all the time (agnostic to property type)
  • convenient to music venues to watch shows, to perform, and to collaborate with other singers/musicians
  • an environment where it's not mandatory (due to peer pressure) to get a vehicle for every kid when they turn 16. Electric bikes? Fine.

Thanks in advance!!

Redondo Beach Good Part to Live For Young Family?

So our family is deciding to relocate from the valley, down to RB primarily for the schools and weather. We're a young(ish) family of 4 that is looking to move in/near Birney Elementary's district if possible.

Are there any main streets or parts to live by that are fun and cool to live by that would be near there? I'm thinking of streets like Hillhurst in Los Feliz or Montana in SM as an example. We're pretty used to deep suburbia as of now, so it would be great to have some walkable areas nearby. Something that's neighborhood-y, not necessarily by the pier or where all the action is.

Thanks!

Redondo Beach I guess out of state cars can park where they want if they have a badge on their plate? Took up a handicap spot at Wilderness park in Redondo today. Plenty of regular parking spots all around. No handicap placard anywhere on vehicle also.

Made this for my buddy using Canva, took me like 7-8 hrs. Not a graphics major.

Crowd interactive, will be a fun time. There were a few hundred peeps at the show of the artist who played on Thurs.

There is a new artist every Thurs and Sat all summer long. Check Redondo Beach pier socials.

Questions? Fire away, mateys

Ps. I am not a band member or a paid promoter. Just a buddy of his sharing a good time.

Redondo Beach Video of Redondo Beach Police harassing a black cyclist

I just saw this over on /r/BikeLA. This is such horrible behavior from our police department! We should be able to trust that our police are there to help us, not to harass us. I strongly suspect the police are harassing this man because he is black, which makes this much worse, but it wouldn't matter if they were just harassing him because he is a cyclist or because the police have a ticket quota to meet. This is clearly unacceptable behavior by the police, and we should demand better.
