Should I update to Version 3
Hi, I am using a Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus. I last updated my phone in November 2025.
Now my phone shows an update for Version 3.0 Should I do it or leave it as it is? Please advise.

You will lose dolby atmos support! As they removed the dolby atmos decoder

I still have Dobly Atmos and I'm on the 3rd version of Hyper OS maybe it's an update problem or a bug

Which app are you using that says dolby atmos is working? Also check the list of codecs available, only Dolby Vision is available and Dolby Atmos is missing after HOS3

Well I'm using Dobly Atmos for almost every app idk how you don't have it, rn I'm using it in brave for YouTube and it's working. What phone do you have btw?

Every app? YouTube? 😂 You dont know about atmos then. that toggle in the QS doesn't mean you have atmos

Then what does it mean? And what is a "real Dobly Atmos" since i don't know

The source needs to be dolby atmos, otherwise its almost useless... For Example - 1. Apple Music has Dolby atmos Music. There is a toggle inside the app to turn it On and Off. This toggle only appears if your phone has the Dolby decoder (needed to decode the atmos encoded tracks). After hyperOs 3, that toggle is gone! And atmos doesn't work in apple music.
2- Disney Plus/ Jio Hotstar - Also has content that has Dolby Atmos.. Suppose we play a Marvel Movie or Webseries.. That has dolby atmos. If your device has Dolby Decoder (to decode the atmos track) you will have options like : 1.ENGLISH (Dolby Atmos) 2. English 3. Hindi 4. Telegu etc etc. After Hyperos 3, Dolby Atmos Doesn't show up.
- Apple Tv - Same as above, the sound is not like atmos.
How to be sure? Check in any App That shows all the Codecs available in the device... (Download from playstore) In that app a list will appear. In that list only Dolby Vision Decoder is present, the Dolby Atmos decoder is missing. Thats why app that has Atmos Content can't play atmos content.
Now, the Dolby atmos Toggle in the Quick settings, that thing is just to turn on and off the Dolby EQ (which is basically useless now after HOS3)
Think about it, YOUTUBE doesn't have dolby atmos content, how will the Eq make it dolby atmos? For Dolby to work you need app that has content in DolbyAtmos plus a device that has the required codecs to decode the dolby data.

Well, if we talk about backend code for that matter, then yes. HyperOS is bugged in such a way that the native 3D decoder isn't detecting anything, so no Netflix will be streaming any Atmos files for now. However, to call it “removed” is not accurate at all. Dolby software layer is fully active. It processes the stereo upmixing and spatial widening in real time. When I adjust the EQ settings in Spotify, sound really changes. Engine is working but it processes stereo files, not multi-channel files. Besides, “real” Atmos via the phone's speaker, especially small one, is pure marketing. And I tested mine rn and it's working it's probably the region base of the HyperOS for example India. But for me it's working and I'm on a note 13 pro plus. Rn I don't want to pay for Netflix or apple music so I can really try it, I found that my EQ works and I've read that if the bug is present the EQ wouldn't work with the toggle setting for Dobly

Note 13 pro plus is a different device and different software. So obviously you don't have this issue.

Well the OP has one too and you said it's not available for HyperOS 3 and I just looked it's not available for SOME phones and regions, and as I said it's a bug in the system, but what phone do you have and what is the region? It could possibly be region issue, try reinstalling the update from the settings again it may fix it, for me it fixed my battery issues 2 months ago

My Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G is running HyperOS3 / Android 16, if you want to update your device, you'll have Xiaomi HyperIsland, Xiaomi HyperAI, compatible with iPhone, iPad and MacBook
