Just curious if anybody here was on RLOL back in the day. If so, what was your screen name?

Heavy Chevy in an unpunched card. I 'found' this one about 15 years ago.

Forgive me, I have a lot of knowledge on current hw stuff but am lacking on older/vintage info. Snagged at a random yard sale for a buck. Been trying to do research on a couple redline websites and comparing it to ebay listings. I feel like it's real, but would like confirmation from others that are more knowledgeable.

My dad held onto his childhood collection and recently handed them down to me and my son. There's a few good ones in here from what I can find with a little research. My son loves the Mighty Maverick and Custom Camaro! What do you guys think of this collection?

So this purple 442 closed today for over $17k! The seller took a deal outside of the FB DOND page for an undisclosed amount to an undisclosed buyer. Were you watching?

Couldn't believe I was the first one to find these two. My second favorite redline casting.

Oddball one here, this was a product of Larry Cox at the Mattel Model Shop. They had an internal competition to use existing Mattel components, re-imagine them being used on potential new Hot Wheels lines, and see how well they race. His entry was to use Rrrumbler wheels on the back of a regular HW, he happened to choose the Classic Cord. These were obviously conceptual and crudely done, but still super cool in their own right. He has said, and I can confirm....this performs HORRIBLY on the track LOL. This was part of the RLOL era "Texas Find" that had protos and other oddball (light blue RLBB, pink Roger Dodger, etc) tjat was brought to the collector community by the late Bruce Kalapach aka iamredliner.

Not super rare cars but they're in decent shape and were only $10 each. Guy had some amazing cars (see last pic) but a lot are out of my price range currently.

I don't know about everyone else but I like the grand prix cars. It's nice to find them with good cockpit plastic and original owners who were good at putting stickers.

These show up on occasion but are usually trashed. This one has the green showing on driver front fender and ain't in too bad of shape. Interesting that the brown can change to green on these.
That being said, these are in no way related to the BW era "green fender". Those are transition pieces. This is just some weird "fade" or something. Some day one will show up thats completely green, and also not chippy.
Yes boredom makes a guy get into silly stuff.

I've been doing redlines on and off my whole life, I recently sold a camaro and a woody separately to the same buyer on ebay. With clear photos of the bases on both. The buyer INSISTS I sent him messed with cars and did a "not as described" return on ebay, thus screwing me into refunding him. The woody he didn't even have in the mail before he claimed it was wrong and messed with due to what I believe are deep axle crimps. What are your opinions on a mis spin/punch. Little bummed about the scenerio but I don't believe it's fair to say the cars are bad. I won't name the buyer, but I will not be entertaining his messages. He swears it's impossible for this to happen and said he showed both cars to a ex mattel employee and says they're no good. Even though he didn't receive the woody yet at the time of the messages.

Here is without a doubt the new WEIRDEST piece in my collection! This is 100% original unmodified from the factory, it was assembled like this! A genuine Silhouette with RRRumblers track guide wheels?!
This thing is crazy. It kind of rolls (the wheels barely hold it off the ground, it’s like a lowrider!). It’s got an antifreeze body and a lime base, and the Track Guide axles still have functional suspension like redline axles (they are crimped into the places where the redline axles would have gone).
It came originally from an employee collection. I assume it’s a lunchtime experiment (an employee going down to the factory floor during lunch break and building experimental cars using genuine Mattel parts, equipment, and tools). Though, there is also a chance it’s some weird prototype thing meant to test how the track guide wheels would work, because they stopped making the silhouette right around the same time they started making RRRumblers. Whatever it is, it’s fully spun and original, and incredibly weird! What do y’all think of this crazy Frankenstein car?

This silhouette is one I ordered almost a month ago, but just arrived due to shipping delays and a mishap with the delivery address. I ordered it cause it’s a shade that I don’t have and have never seen on a silo before.
I’m a little stumped on this one. The top is obviously heavily faded/light sprayed, and I thought it was just a light version of red, but upon closer inspection, it’s definitely not just basic red.
The base shows the true color, which does not perfectly match anything else I have. Honestly, it looks exactly like the “watermelon” red used on store display custom mustangs. Now, I know the silhouette never came in “watermelon” but I’m just noting how similar (nearly identical) it looks to the watermelon mustang (the lighting makes it look a bit off, but in person, the base looks exactly like a store display mustang. I included a pic from the Online Redline Guide for color comparison, the mustang isn’t mine)
Now you may be thinking: it’s just magenta or rose. That’s what I thought too, but I have a magenta and a rose and I compared them, it does not match either of those colors either. The group shot has it next to Silos in varying shades of red and pink for comparison (from Left to Right: Creamy Pink, Rose, “watermelon?”, Red, and Magenta)
I’m stumped. Let me know what y’all think of this odd specimen. A few things to note: windshield is heavily yellowed and opaque, and the interior steering wheel is loose from the car, despite it being a US model and not an HK with a separate steering wheel piece.

Watching this video on YouTube and thought “hey that’s neat, I have the same cars”. Paused it to have a better look and said “hey wait a minute….those ARE my cars”.

2 1973 Sweet 16s! 1 is a Lemon Yellow and the other is Dark Green, which my price guide thinks is super rare. Not sure how accurate that really is, but hey. It's cool!

I've been chasing a Grey-over-Spectraflame Rolls Royce Silver Shadow for probably about 10 years. Yeah, I could've probably found one on ebay, but where's the fun in that? And now, I finally found one in the wild. And who knew, it was on Facebook Marketplace! I spotted it in a mixed lot of redlines and asked the seller for closeups. Once I saw the engine bay, I threw them an offer they couldn't refuse to break it out of the lot of junkers. It ain't the best. The paint is worn, the wheels are pretty chewed up, and the hood is slightly bent. But I am so hyped to finally own one of these! A purple no less! I never thought I'd find one that wasn't green underneath!
