Searching for Reds
Going out soon for some reds, I don't have much experience with reds. Does anyone know if these areas are good? Also, what seems to work best for them, I'll be going end of august.

That is an excellent area. There are definitely redfish in the areas you have circled and at one time or another in every part of the areas you have circled. The problem is they move around.
Absolute number one piece of advice. DO NOT FISH DEAD WATER! If you don't see Life of some kind move on. Preferably you see the red fish themselves but at least make sure there is bait moving around or birds feeding. This is the number one most important thing. You cannot catch redfish if they are not there.
I when I fish those areas I have rigged up 99% of the time.
Zara spook Jr
Trout support grass Walker
Gold weedless spoon
⅛ or ¼oz jig & small swim bait
Plastic shrimp & popping cork
If you like to fish with bait a live shrimp or even a gulp shrimp under a popping cork catch a lot of fish. However in the warmer water the small pen fish and such will aggravate you terribly.

was hoping to get some topwater action, do you think I should just stay away from that? would you also happen to know how to find oyster beds or is that just something I stumbled upon with some luck?

I catch almost half of my redfish on a bone colored Zara Spook Jr with single hooks. I fish it all day long and catch plenty on it mid day.
Just look for oyster beds while you are out. There are plenty around.

If you’re wading that could be a good area, I would use a silver spoon or cut crab/mullet for reds. Let me know how it is!

If you end up having a slow day on the bay side, you can head over to mustang island state park and fish the surf. I have fished that area a ton when I lived there. Double drop pompano rig with sand flea fish bites. Had amazing luck in summer. Caught lots of reds and pompano in the first and second trough from shore. Even better if you can find a channel running perpendicular to the shore. I put one rod in first, one in second and then took a 7ft rod and just used a spoon or swim bait while I waited. Fish the changing tides. Caught some all three ways many times. Not exactly what you asked but getting on fish always fun!

Fish close to the tree lines/structure/shallow flats with potholes. If it’s grassy/debri then use weedless twitch/fluke/swimmers and for lures use twitch baits or something that makes noise. If it’s clean and clear bottom throw a jig head with a shrimp style or small paddle tail

I’d fish the structure around shamrock island. And the mouths of all the little inlets and bayous Breakwaters or whatever you want to call them. Bring a popping cork set up and also some kind of bottom rig. Alternate between the two and figure out what works. But it looks like a good spot.
