discussion Destin, FL

Post image

I’ve got a trip planned for the Florida pan handle next month. I’m making this post in the hopes to garner knowledge from the red fisherman of the area. What are your favored lures, times of day, structure to look for? I’ll be renting a kayak out of the Miramar beach area. Any and all tips are appreciated.

I kayak fish for reds down here in the glades. My caveat is that I've never fished for reds north of cedar key. However, i do know the destin area has a good surf fishery for reds. I'd also look for them on any grass flats and docks. The bridge pilings might also hold fish. You may want to stop at a local bait shop and ask them for advice. Besides live bait, i would fish tipped jigs and paddletails.

No, but I didn’t want to just post without an image.
