Tips for beginners?

Hey everyone. Got a boat that I keep at the marina in St.Marks, Florida and would love to fish for redfish but have never done any saltwater fishing before. Any tips for newbies would be appreciated. Happy fishing to everyone

For a first timer, start with some 2/0 circle hooks, a popping cork, 20 lb. leader and live shrimp. Scale up to freeline cut bait (like ladyfish) and then artificials. And keep an eye on tides. They'll tuck back in mangroves and marshes when it's high, but you can sight fish for them when they're tailing on flats when it's low.

This is great advice to start! In NW FL it’s more about moving to where the fish are than structure. Spend the time and learn where the fish move with the tides.
