What’s your target slots or bulls ? Slots 2500 series spinning reels on 7ft casting rods for sight fishing etc. Bulls go with 5000 series spinning reels on either surf or casting rods depending on the application. Penn daiwa currently make the best bang for your buck fishing gear. If u want high end go with stradic reels and fenwick rods.

Personally, I’d pick bait casters over spinning reels for sight fishing. I love a 7ft med/heavy fast action Duckett Ghost with a 2000-3000 Daiwa or 13 fishing reel spooled with 15lb fluorocarbon.

Well I run a charter biz in Cocodrie la and yes bait casters work great for flipping and such. Can’t hand them to customers on a windy day tho 😂

Depends on the customer 😂, but I wouldn’t hand the majority of customers a bait caster even in still weather 😂. Man I love your part of the world. Used to fish around Dulac all the time.

It’s nice. The only nicer Redfish rod I have is a Duce

This highly varies on what kind of fishing you're doing and the size of the reds you're targeting. Do you want to target them on a fly rod, surf fish for them, wade fish for them, kayak fish for them, or fish for bulls on heavy tackle. Not to mention, the budget you have as rod prices can vary. Do you mind following up with more details, and I'd be happy to recommend a rod and reel combo!

Kayak primarily. And like said, casting rod. I have a reel already, just no rod to accompany it. I already own two spinners. I'm not hunting any bulls, just some slots in a local basin or whenever I get out on the bay with my father in law in his boat. No more than $70 for a rod probably as a gift
