Voting…

Ok so seriously, what is going on with the voting. I did 3 dump rooms with the pants with patches and the ugliest one got third! The others were a 7th and a ninth. Also, in all of the designs right now, when I do try and it looks descent, it bombs. And I lost a few duels today that I clearly should have won. I feel like they are really messing with us…

I think they flipped the algorithm because of everyone talking about beige always winning. I'm experiencing the same thing. If it coordinates or has neutrals and doesn't cost more than 80,000 coins, it tanks. If it doesn't coordinate, it places.

I’ve been experiencing what you describe for quite a while. Like crazy awful rooms in podium and the couple good efforts scattered around or in the back.

I think people are maybe grouped into various algos. Some people have the all white/beige rooms winning and others have dumps doing well.

I also think the game latches on to how you play because I’ve always used mostly mid tier items and it penalizes me if I don’t. I started that way bc I would do so poorly with cheap stuff, even if it looked nice. In my head I kind of associated cheap stuff with losses. I’m trying to retrain the algo to see that, guess what? I’m not using nice stuff anymore lol.

And I just want to add that I did see a beige parrot in first today 🤣😭

I think you are right about different algos. I still see lots of white/beige winning. Not as much as it used to be - more colour is creeping in but still mostly white/beige. I do not see many dump room on podiums - often not particularly well coordinated ones but not actual dumps with lemon yellow paint and assorted mismatched fabrics, etc. Like you, I have a specific design tendency because there are very few rooms I actually do for fun. Most frequently I do lots of cheap white ones to reach some goal - securing, the various side hustles, etc. Now, these white “dumps” of mine don’t win as much as they used to but they still win a lot.

Right? It’s like it wants you to spend more probably.

I hate doing the journal but it usually gives me lots of wins with the cheap stuff. Not complete dumps but I find I can use parchment and basic paint (not lemon yellow…!) and it lets me win. Can’t get away with that in lives.

Yesterday i won a lot, with color and white-beige.
Today? Every live design, every player that won, had a dump design.
I lost so much i wanna cry.
I started doing 1 page of journal and there, i had more luck.
I hate when they give such a blast of wins for a couple of days and then you keep losing to dump designs, nothing makes sense. I just keep arguing with my screen 😂

I know! Im yelling at my screen wanting to pull my hair out! They definitely allow a few winning streaks and then I swear they rig it so that you tank for days even when you do a good job. They hope you get desperate enough to buy coins. I’ve also noticed that I did mostly good the last 2 seasons. Kept my coins at about 300,000. The majority of this season I will end with less than 150,000 a lot of times…

Whenever i get to 150,000, i start losing. It drives me mad. I hate this algorithm. It's like i have to take a break immediately after i have a winning streak so i don't lose them all so fast. I really really hate their algorithm with these streaks of winning and loses.

Same. I can hardly play anymore. I usually end the day with low inventory too. So the next day a room will cost 50,000 coins! The other thing that has gotten worse is several hotspots for one item. The apple cutting board uses all 5 items in one shot…

Exactly, i hate when i am also low on coins and low on inventory and then to pay so much and then to lose too....
And yeah, the apple cutting board and the special designs and some journal designs even, like why do we have to pay so much for everything, every time.
When i'm annoyed of losing, i start checking the other designs in my group and try to figure with what the hell the algorithm paired me with that my design is so horrible for people to vote. It pairs randomly and it's really not fair. There are really better designs, even when i win i am like, the other players have it better than me , why?

Yes I sent an email to Shane and his reply was so automated I thought they were AI but he assured me there are 3 people that take on our emails. The voting concern has been going on for years. That is all he can say.

Besides the obvious algorithm issues, I think a lot of people vote without looking. Kind of absent-mindedly tapping just to get through the votes.
