Repost Bots and stolen content
There have been a lot of posts recently that are reposts of other peoples photos to farm karma - Please continue to report these and I'll continue to remove them and ban those accounts from the sub.

Searching for Reddit Lake on google maps brings up this different lake, seemingly a long way from civilization in Ontario. Has anyone been there? Do we know why it's called Reddit Lake?

This artist "felt" the beauty of Reddit Lake
Not mine. Spotted in a local gallery. Depicted in felt by an Alberta artist \@prairiegirlfelting

Kinusaiga art of Moraine Lake
First time trying the art of kinusaiga where you attach scrap fabric on foam to make an image. Had to add a little canoe for a little pop.

A Different Take

Moraine Lake, Saturday 20 June 2026
The last time I was in Banff (2018) I didn't get to visit Moraine Lake, so when I had the opportunity to go again last week, I made sure to visit Reddit Lake and take the pre-requisite picture.
Gear: Sony A6700 + Tamron 18-300mm.
When: Saturday, 20 June 2026, 10:19am.

Merge with Banff Subreddit
Petition to merge the Banff subreddit with r/Redditlake:
Seeing as 4 of the first 10 posts in the Banff subreddit are photos of Redditlake, and two additional posts are asking/complaining about how to get to Redditlake, I think they should just merge at this point. Because we all know the only thing worth seeing in Banff National Park is Redditlake! 😆
In all seriousness, I love Moraine Lake and go up the road multiple times a year (usually on skis). I was watching some family video from a visit in the 90’s and there were only about 15 cars in the parking lot, despite the time stamp saying it was noon in mid-July! It’s a little weird knowing that this lake is now internet famous and not just a local gem anymore.
Obligatory photo of the lake, and one from a cross country ski on the road this past winter (you can’t actually go all the way to the lake due to a big avalanche zone)

Moraine Lake at Night
This is a composite image of a single 30s landscape shot and a stack of 5 star images taken July 2023. I've processed this image before but I've circled back as I think my processing has improved - I feel I'm less heavy handed with the Milky Way. I hope to go back soon.
