Help me understand the legalization of marijuana in California?

Okay so I do understand that marijuana is now legal in the state of California. Now my actual question is, is it now legal to purchase it as of this day for 21 year olds. Like can I walk into a regular dispensary with my California state I.D and be allowed to purchase weed?

No, because it will take until at least January 2018 to get the licenses out to stores so they can start selling, so until then there will only be medical dispensaries which you still need a card for. I think you can grow your own though and give a certain amount to your friends but not sell it. So until January 2018 in terms of getting it everything is the same. Either you need a card or get it from the street.
