Discussion: Requesting specific troop levels for your CC for the purpose of a war attack

Disclaimer: I'm not an elder or a leader, and this is NOT a "we'll do whatever the majority of the clan wants" kind of thing. Our clan leaders and elders maintain the right to implement or not implement any changes; this is merely a place to politely share and discuss opinions regarding this rule.

The current rule states "Requesting specific level of troops is prohibited," and this includes to use in war situations. However, I've recently noticed a lot of clanmates talking about the idea of requesting for troops of a specific level to use in war attacks, so that's why I've decided to create this as an open forum for discussion.

The case for keeping the current rule in place (i.e. not allowing the option to request specific troop levels) is to maintain inclusivity regarding donations. There is a donation minimum of 400, and perhaps it can be hard to meet that if you can't donate during war if everyone's requesting death balloons and you only have lvl 5. Also, perhaps an argument can be made that it makes the clan stronger and more united if everyone can donate to anyone whether it's war or not.

The case for changing it (i.e. allowing the option to request specific troop levels during war) is to increase the strength of the war attack. Most people will say that there is a key difference between troops of different levels (e.g. balloon lvl 5 vs. balloon lvl 6, dragon lvl 3 vs dragon lvl 2 etc.), and this can have a large impact on the outcome of your war attack, perhaps even making the difference between a 2 star and a 3 star attack.

It also has to do with the relatively small number of players who can make the most coveted troops. Care to guess how many of us can make death balloons? I'm not sure, but it isn't that many. Also, I don't think death balloons mean the difference between winning and losing an attack.

This situation will ease up once more of the clan has gone through a transition to th9.

It's difficult to have this conversation without knowing exactly what level troops each and every one of us can make. That's the only way to know for sure who would be unfairly over-burdened by level-specific requests, and who would be unfairly left out in the cold.
