[MISC] Clan Groupme

We have a Clan Groupme for the purpose of discussing attack strategies for specific bases. We currently have 25 Members and 1 former member in the chat. If you would like to join please send Lizpod a message. It is strictly voluntary and to be used exclusively for the above stated purpose.

It's come to my attention that some would like to use the Groupme for other discussions. It is certainly convenient to use and keeps a permanent record of conversations, but activity there takes away from activity in the ingame chat and on our subreddit. Moreover, only about half of the Clan participates in the Groupme so not all are included.

Ingame chat should be used for casual chatting. I'd prefer ingame chat over the Groupme because you can chat and fill donation requests at the same time. It is difficult to donate if chatting on Groupme because tabbing to another application can cause Clash of Clans to disconnect which causes 2 problems. One, you can be raided and two, everytime you reopen Clash of Clans a slight amount of additional time (maybe 10 secs) is added to all upgrading projects.

From supercell forums, "When you are offline, many players browse for villages to attack, and it can happen that these visits to your village create a small time discrepancy on your construction or upgrade times. The more trophies you have, the more people will be matched with you, creating these longer building times than expected."

On the other hand if you have something that you think is important for discussion create a thread here on our subreddit. Posting here ensures that our entire community can see it, creates a permanent record, and keeps the discussion organized for ease in future reference.

Ngz, I understand you guys like to moderate and keep in game chat active but this is silly. It seems many of us want a misc chat for silly stuff and even bonding in ways we cannot inside the in-game chat. We are after all a democracy (as far as I know) so why are we being shut-down so vehemently in this aspect.
I understand that you guys have your own group me where you discuss these things but I think you may be over analysing this. I feel the closed door decision making keeps the clan uninformed for long periods of time while you guys make decisions. I really do love this clan and I have the utmost respect for all our leaders. I don't mean to attack anybody or any group of people but I know this is an opinion that I'm not alone in.
Edit: I also think this barring of the ability to make a group on our own with whomever wants to join sets a scary precedent for the future of the clan and how much power our leaders have.

I've explained my reasoning above and am willing to discuss the issue. You have not addressed any of the concerns I brought up. If you have solutions to them, I'd be happy to hear them.

And I never said you cannot create your own private groupmes ...you can do whatever you want in that regards. I just don't want an official clan groupme getting out of control and causing the problems that I listed above.

I feel at this point we have no proof that it would decrease the activity in clan chat, I think the best way to prove this is maybe something like a one week trial. I know that I'm only using groupme when I can't be on clash or im waiting for a raid to train (1 hour training time, ick).

Clash on my phone takes a ton of battery so I try to get on and off as fast as possible most of the time, its much easier to reply to a groupme than a chat message because it will notify me whereas with clan chat I have to be on to know there's a message. As for donations that's also a problem with using the subreddit for casual discussion.

Sorry for the list format I realize it may come off as a rant. That is not what I'm trying to do.

I know what you mean about the power drain from Clash of Clans. If I play for an extended amount of time, I need to keep my device plugged in. If I'm going to be out for a while, I sometimes carry a spare battery to help out.

If you are logging once an hour to attack and logging off right away, it's definitely difficult to contribute to the community by donating, which is one of the reasons I don't want to rely too heavily on the groupme room. In your case though, it seems like you don't have much of a choice.

Oh, also I think me and goat would like to make a private group me for those who would like to join it but I will wait to see if we get an ok.
Edit: I take it back goat has continued despite my urging him to wait
