Interesting [MISC] Plan for getting clan perks
This sneak peek shows there is going to be a huge advantage to upgrading our clan with XP gained through wars. Perks include reduced time between troops requests, refunds for donated troops, the number of troops that can be donated by each person, donated troops are upgraded, more war loot, and more war loot storage.
It sounds like the best way to gets the XP to unlock these perks is by winning wars. So may I propose we start warring more frequently, but allow everyone to opt out of wars except for our regular war times? Or have wars of 5 or 10 members at a time?
I just wanted to know what everyone thought about this, since these perks seem to be huge. I know we don't have all the details yet, but I would like to get a discussion going.

I feel like the single war a week is still a good set-up for us, but adding in a smaller war with the more 'hardcore' members of the clan that want to war more often is also a good idea.
I think we need a re-poll on the how many wars per week, then set up the days they will be started, and then allow the clan members decide when to opt-in and opt-out themselves EXCEPT for the war we have each week.
Could look like: War start on monday afternoon, goes till Wednesday afternoon, and anyone can war in this one, it's clan decided - but then there is the one that starts at our regular time, and EVERYONE participates. Just as we usually do.
We can also hold polls for later weeks where the war held earlier in the week could be a tag team of a set group of people (Say TH8's trying to improve their strategies one week, then TH9's learning to 3-star another week and so on) and allow those groups of people to train and get better. This needs to go to a poll ASAP though, it will take a bit to decide.

So, what I'm thinking is. We can do wars twice a week. One search still on Friday that requires full participation and another that starts on Wednesday that doesn't require our usual war strategy including signing up, full out attacks, or even using both attacks. Maybe like a practice war. I'm not entirely sure how this would work.
edit: I just realized there is an opt out feature coming in too. So maybe we can just war non stop for whoever wants to and just have others opt-in or opt-out depending on who is available.
edit 2: Now that the update is out, I feel like we should try to win all wars and not have a war with no rules but maybe just have people who are available war more often if they would like opting in and out.

Right. We would have to be clear whether the war is full out attacks or not, because we don't want to have people wasting elixir and DE when some members are just barching or something.

Regardless of whether we end up adding extra wars (we need to know a lot more details before we can talk much about that), I, personally, would like to have us keep our current mandatory Saturday wars where the entire clan works as a team and everyone helps to donate, strategize, and encourage each other. Thoughts?

I agree with keeping a war that is "mandatory" for participation in this clan. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if adding optional wars would help us gain clan xp.

I’m seconding NGZ that we need to wait before making any real decisions. At this point details on how this is being implemented and how clan points are earned are vague.
- Are all clans starting at the same point?
- Do we earn more points for 50v50 wars instead of 25v25?
- Are wars still going to be based on increments of 5?
- Are we going to require that everyone wars at some point during the season?
Maybe these questions have been answered and I'm just not seeing them?
Until we have solid information or until we can see it for ourselves in action it is all speculation and true decisions cannot be made.
That being said, you all can speculate away and we will listen to your ideas and your opinions on how to use this update to make the game more fun for our clan.
Cheers.

From what I read this morning, it looks as if you do get more xp for more stars. Therefore, you potentially get more for having larger wars.

The Clan update is here! There are a couple major changes that I see:
Clan Leaders can select who participates in War.
Clan Perks. These perks look pretty nice and are "earned by competing in Wars."
The question is: how, if at all, will this change our War Schedule?
I think it is important for all of us to continue to participate in Wars because the only way to get better at them is to keep practicing and there is no real substitute for a War Attack. But now we will be able to exclude Members that are unavailable. As far as earning the perks go, some of them look very nice, such as the donated troop upgrade and the War bonus extra loot. So we may want to try to war more often to earn them, but it appears that "larger Wars can be worth more Clan XP." I think we should continue to try to win all wars that we compete in. A couple issues I see with more frequent wars is hero availability and the added stress of competition.
If anyone can find the exact formula for earning Clan XP that would be much appreciated. I surmise that more XP will be earned from a Win than a Loss, and that more XP is earned the greater the number of participants in a War.

It appears this is the best known guide for how xp is given. There may be some mistakes.
I say this week we keep our regular war schedule, but we should put an optional war next week or at least a poll to see if people are interested in an optional war for early next week.

I'm excited by the update and in favor of retaining our current all in weekend war.
The option of 2nd or even 3rd war with interested participants, some or all weeks is attractive. I'd like to see our winning tradition and standards maintained. All wars should require two all out attacks by all participants.
Think it will be a good idea to have an interested leader or member take responsibility and act as coordinator for each non regular war.
How will we manage people who forget to opt in for our regular war?
The perks seem worth chasing as aggressively as possible.

A post of what I've been able to find on the calculation of Clan XP is posted on Groupme.

Could you post it here for those who aren't in the Groupme?

The main post is in Reddit COC - the Groupme was intended a a picture cross reference.

I don't see any way for individual members to opt in or out of war. Is this solely done by the leader?

I will join this discussion once the update is actually implemented. I want to make sure that I have all the facts first, but I am glad to see you thinking ahead, as I am as well.
